Coach Flanno

Flanno very open and frank in the interview. I can sense by what he says that we will be much better next year and so good to hear that we have plenty of great juniors coming through and that he is excited to see develop and be part of the NRL in the near future.

Facilities are on the improve before at WIN and the major one being the C of E in 2025.

Ben Hunt he agrees has been a bit of a problem but says that for at least 2024 he will be playing and Flanno will get Hunt's head in order for the year and if what is hoped to be a good 2024, Hunt might stay for 2025.

Flanno has a good analytical mind and I think able to man manage the players well. As an assistant under Mary, he couldn't say too much, but now that he is head coach, he will bring out the best in the players.

Having players like Sloan, Stewart, Lomax and Hunt in the PMXIII and New Guinea sides will definitely be a bonus and I'm looking forward to seeing how Meninga and his staff will get the best out of the Aussie Guys. Stewart of course will be interesting, hope he goes well too.

Presents so much better than both Hook and McGregor and is calling out some of the things we need to be addressing. culture change.
Someone needs to make a banner and hang it in the gym - “Fitter, Faster, Stronger”
A tiny little thing but listen to how he says 'we' when referring to the Dragons team and their results through the year when in fact he was actually working for Sea Eagles. Just a word but also shows how invested he is already, by my comprehension of it at least. He's become a Dragon. Hook was the coach of the Dragons. A subtle difference but huge in effect.

Sure, we could have really done with a Bellamy or Cleary to come save us but we got a desperate man instead. Desperate for a chance but also desperate for success which he has proven he can get. No matter what, there's no way we can go anywhere but forward with Flanagan as coach. His demeanour comes off as hungry for success to me with some smarts about him.

When the early losses come I will be interested to see how he owns up to it and more importantly, hold the offending players accountable. Our boys need discipline.

I'd like to hope that Flanno can oversee all grades and ensure that ALL players increase their fitness and speed and endurance. Build up the players to be dominant in the positions they hold and to be consistent individually as well as the teams overall. Follow the route taken by the best of this decade in the Panthers to the letter and you can't go wrong.

All our coaches should look at all games that the Panthers have played to see how they set up their attack and how they arrange their defence structures. Practise how they do things - like how they attacked and set up the tries to To'o in last nights preliminary final against the Storm. So easy a job and as I say, just keep practising and they can't go wrong.

If Amone is in our halves ,we are in more trouble.
Hunt and K Flannigan are likely to be our first-choice halves pairing. If Amone remains available, then Amone and Bird should fight it out for the 14 spot. Personally, I would rather Bird elects to move on to another club; maybe in the ESL. How about we swap him for a big pommy prop.

I agree a very good post, especially the last paragraph. Regulars on this forum have been begging for someone to introduce some discipline into this team (in fact the whole club) for some time & I believe Flanno will do that. It is music to my ears !

Reading this and the Brisbane times piece just illustrates how lame our 3 previous coaches have been and what shocking appointments they were. Finally someone who talks like they have a plan, can see the areas that need improvement and is determined to make the team hard nosed and play a style of football fans can be proud of. Can’t believe we had to wait 12 years for this.

Like the others Matt, thanks for posting.

It is a good read and a good feeling coming from it. This all in breakfast function attended by lifelong Dragons fans who also have very influential backgrounds was a great thing that the club could arrange. The spirit and strength of the Dragons as a single entity now will be the catalyst for very improved results in the coming years.

Our current crop of players together with a further intake of hard edge forwards by the end of the year as well as the coming of age of several juniors will springboard us into the limelight which will help us catapult into the finals come September 2024. These are lots of words that dreams are made of, but they can also be words that can lift the spirit of us fans during the off season.

So refreshing to see a coach call upon some of the considerable resources available to him

We have been waiting for a leader to walk through the door of the club

Someone capable of awakening the sleeping giant …….

I'm no coach but if we just stand deeper in attack in a "V" formation we would do better. This is what the Panthers did for To'o's tries last night.

I think Flanno is challenging the team with his no "warriors" comment.

I could be way off however, as the young generation may not care about that, but I'd be saying FU coach. It would be a red rag to a bull for me.

It is the cold hard truth unfortunately. Gallen was that to the point of being a hog sometimes. Hit ups, tackles, efforts, 80 minutes in the middle. We had one like that in McInnes but ATM no one fits that bill. JDB has aged and cant play 80 ATM
