Complaint of racial abuse in Roosters v Broncos

So what happens if there is no audio of the alleged comment? It turns into all Broncos players heard it, so he must of said it.
For about 90 years the NRL/NSWRL Judiciary operated purely on the officials report and player testimony.

And every level below the NRL operates this way.

I don't think this is the issue you think it is.

Watch the video I posted. I daresay they will get a lip reading expert in to determine if they can clearly identify what was said.

Fox also followed Billy Walters reaction when the alleged incident happened as well before the complaint was made.

it would only be an issue if the Roosters decided to appeal the suspension somehow, like in an actual court. Get an actual court to adjudicate on it as some sort of civil case then it would get thrown out.

I highly doubt the roosters would be in anyway interested in such a caper. Much more likely they are pressuring Leniu to plead guilty and apologise to limit the blowback regardless of what can/can’t be proven

The NRL not convening the Judiciary until next Tuesday, is just adding fuel to the fire.

It's going to be in the news cycle all week, and commentators, players and punters will give there opinion all week.

Who is running the NRL? The Roosters football manager?
I find that pretty funny that you think this is a negative, talking about the racial ramifications after the las vagas double header for the next week is a pretty good blanket to throw over our favorite rival code, while they start and we await the news of the hearing, keeps the limelight on RL,
Plus the judiciary generally would form after the end of round 1 for any and all instances for round 1, this is one of those instances, considering this is a bit of a split week

i wouldn't be suprised if this was all a massive cook up, i get that spencer is a hot head, but i can't ever remember him calling out indigenous people in the past, he has played with many at Penrith, and there's audio of him saying "why are you saying that?, why would i even say that" basically being disgusted by the accusation.
I'm not saying he didn't say it, just seems a bit way off for him, if he did do it, well he deserves the book thrown at him

I appreciate what you are saying but sorry that is incorrect. All junior reps, SS RM and NSW Cup at least operate on video evidence and have done for several years..

I think the issue is they did not deal with it quickly. On he surface it appears he said something and he should be dealt the relevant penalty. But given the speculation etc if they can't prove it I think they will still play it as they did prove it. I am not sure the NRL can afford the fall out

When the American TV networks realise how much drama rugby league creates off the field they'll line up to buy the broadcast rights to the game.
Yes this sports and drama, theyll eat that up, but carnards right, they don't know the rules yet, that why we need to keep going there till they learn them, and are paying attention morso
Its a start, and it's not the the arrogant Americans would teach us the rules of NFL before a superbowl, the broadcasters or commentators need to explain a bit of the game when it comes to one off penalties or rare occurrences like a 40/20 or goal line drop outs etc...

Tell that to Reece Walsh. He copped a swearing ban despite having player testimony.

The ref only put it on report off the players word over an offical hearing anything.

NRL should run commercials during the game that explain the rules. The game is much easier to understand than gridiron.

You seem to think that it was my view that player testimony is infallible or can never be questioned or fabricated.

In the end the Judiciary make a judgement based on all of this information and there view of the evidence credibility.

Not all these games are miked up or capture the refs audio though.

And all regional and country leagues don't.

Honestly, the week break gives everyone a chance to calm down. Tomorrow night we have some more footy which will move the focus off this. Whatever happens with Leniu people on both sides won’t be happy, if the hearing was tonight then the verdict would overshadow the round of games ahead.
I think the longer it takes for a committee to act the more it damages the game.
In horse racing, if there is an issue during a race it's dealt with by the stewards before correct weight because the show must go on.... usually.
Could something like the Leniu case be dealt with by "the stewards" who impose a fine which later on all parties can appeal.
At least this way the game goes on.
It also stops the lynching mentality of the mainstream and social media. Wherever possible, deal with it straight away.
The main problem being is in gathering enough evidence.
One thing for sure that comes out of all this is no matter how hard we try to stamp out racism there's always going to be a numbnut who is going to keep doing it.
Every year when new kids start school someone will do something stupid because they are in foreign territory and don't behave how they should. Our house, which backs onto a school sports ground, has had it's windows smashed a few times from rocks being thrown over the fence and it's always when schools starts for the year, when new boys begin primary school.
Sometimes I think NRL players are like these kids.
