Shackleton an Eel in 2010

Tuesday, June 09, 2009
The Sydney Roosters unfortunately announce that Shane Shackleton has signed with the Parramatta Eels for the 2010 season and beyond.
The Club was unable to match the value or length of the contract offered by the Eels which Shackleton accepted to secure his future and that of his kids.
Roosters Recruitment Manager Peter O’Sullivan said while it was disappointing to lose Shackleton the club had to focus on the long term recruitment plan of developing youth.
“The signing of 20 year old powerhouse Manly forward Jarred Waerea-Hargreaves continues with the Club’s long term planning of signing core age players. We were unable to retain Shane due to salary cap constraints,” O’Sullivan said.
O’Sullivan also indicated the future of Nate Myles would be announced later this week.
The Sydney Roosters are sad to see Shane leave the club but wish him the best for his future.

Yeah - you guys need an overpaid underacheiver to replace Webb!

(note: overpaid if Myles gets the reported 400k per season that he's after)

He's only an underacheiver under a sh*t coach in a sh*t team like the Rorters (take his performances for QLD for example of what he's like under a good coach). If he comes to us he will be worth every cent within no time :D

Wests Tigers re-sign young gun

June 10, 2009 http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,25616017-5018866,00.html

Young Wests Tigers utility Blake Ayshford has agreed a new two-year contract with the NRL club.
Twenty-one-year-old Ayshford, who scored a try on his first grade debut against Brisbane Broncos last month, can play centre, lock and five-eighth and was voted the club's players' player of the year for the Toyota Cup competition in 2008.
"We are very excited to be able to re-sign such a talented utility player in Blake Ayshford," said Wests Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell.
"Blake hasn't been able to have a full off-season over the past two seasons due to injuries but once he gets that under his belt, he will be a much bigger and stronger player."

The irony is that somebody has taken one of our players by virtue of overpaying their worth. Cowboys will do the same with Myles.

The difference is that players only turn to sh*t once they get to the Roosters, which is why they're thought of as overpaid. Once they're playing under a good coach who would never think playing Braith Anasta at fullback is ever a good idea, they show their worth and turn out to be great buys.

How do you explain Carl Webbs under-achievement then?

FWIW i think after a sh*t first year at the roosters Myles has been pretty damn good, better than many others in their pack.

Not $400 000 a season good tho
