Nobody is claiming not getting the jab is a danger to the public, that he could die from it or it increases his likelihood of catching the virus.

Having it reduces the risk of catching the flu and passing it onto others. Current thinking is contracting the Rona whilst you have the flu would compromise your health.

It does make sense in that respect but one would expect that if the flu shot is such a key weapon against the rona then kids would require it for day care and school. That isn't even being considered as far as I'm aware which makes this all seem a bit over the top.

This is not a 'normal' flu season. Medical experts [Source] have highlighted the extra importance of flu shots this year due to the coronavirus..

To summarise... getting the flu reduces your immune system and makes you more vulnerable to getting Covid-19.

Plus spreading the flu can place extra strain on the medical services that are still in a state of alert. It seems we have a responsibility to do everything we can to stay healthy.

The government has recommended numerous times that everyone gets the flu shot, have imposed rules that without a flu shot people won't be able to enter an aged care facility.

This really is simple, they players want to participate in a high risk activity that breaches social distancing rules. One of the conditions for them to do this is a flu shot. Seems reasonable to me, anti-vaxx morons can do as they please elsewhere.
