Capacity for Ausgrid is 26,102 (according to ABC yesterday), no chance of them ever getting close to 30k again sadly.

The ABC figure is wrong, capacity at Newcastle is around 30-32K. It was 26K with the old grandstand, so there is no way it can still be 26K given the new stand is considerably larger.

After Round 19:
2,215,674 @ average 16,291
To beat last year an average of 16,683 in the remaining 56 games is needed - eminently doable.

That's hilarious. How do they know when they've reached capacity when there are two hills in the joint?
I could understand such an accurate capacity figure if it was an all seater, but WTF?

Suity

I dare say the abnormal numbers come from the number of seats in each stand and in front of the hills, then they add approximate round numbers from the hill of say 2-3k each end.

Having said that, from memory 26k was the capacity PRIOR to the reconstruction of the Western Stand.

The bad news is that the weather in Sydney is going to be terrible (wind & rain) for the next few days (including Fri, but it may be slightly better than Wed-Thurs)

The good news is that there should be a significant improvement for the weekend (winds easing, couple of showers), not perfect but certainly much more reasonable weather.

Based on my minimum expectations for the week ahead:

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels = 25,000 (should be 30,000 at least)

Melbourne Storm vs Brisbane Broncos = 16,000 (hopefully 18,000)

Gold Coast Titans vs North Queensland Cowboys = 12,000

Wests Tigers vs Sydney Roosters = 16,000

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks vs Newcastle Knights = 12,000 (could be a surprise)

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs New Zealand Warriors = 14,000 (Should be well above 16,000)
Penrith Panthers vs Manly Warringah Sea Eagles = 16,000

Canberra Raiders vs St. George Illawarra Dragons = 16,000 (last time the two played in Canberra, the dragons had an extreme amount of support so hopefully it is repeated and 20,000 wouldn't be surprising.)

Total = 127,000 Average = 15875 at worst

its on a Monday night .. so it will be near zero at kickoff
& Dragons fans won't come down from Sydney as schools back & its a work night .... 20K .. nuh , not a chance
16K .. still a bit ambitious
15K at the max ;-)

Last year was the aggregate record and was very close to the average in normal season. It was the record for both if finals are included (thanks to 70K+ at the preliminary final). The ave of the last 8 rounds last year was over 17K - we need less than that this year.

So yes, Gallop is probably going to be right

Storm v Broncos may push 20K. Level 3 on the Eastern Side has been opened up for only the second time this year (last time was the ANZAC Day game against the Warriors).

Weather in Melbourne isn't meant to be too bad either and the only AFL game on Friday is St Kilda (10th) v Adelaide (14th) which is hardly a blockbuster so shouldn't draw away too many of the Storm's fringe fans.

Your being far too optimistic with your team; apparently it is raining this week; and your playing a out of town team.

Wait so the only AFL game on Friday is St Kilda vs Adelaide and the storm can't get shown even when against the broncos? FFS.
