They will fold soon with that shit, this is A-League shit right here.

It was the Sharks smallest crowd of the year so far. But not the smallest NRL crowd of this season. Both Penrith and Manly have had smaller crowds.

I know for certain that the Manly game was played in some of the worst weather on a Monday night, not sure about the Penrith game.

Only slightly bigger than the crowd who turned up to see the very average St Kilda take on a traditionally low-drawing Fremantle in Melbourne.

The NRL needs fewer armchair supporters who think that watching Foxtel constitutes supporting their team. They ought to be getting at least 45k+ to games where two Sydney-based teams are involved.

That is a wish rather than a comment about reality. The reality is that average attendance across the competition has been static in effect over recent years. The numbers going to games represent the number of people in the country who want to attend NRL games. It is really that simple.

Growing attendances is a long term slow motion project. If we are averaging 18,000 in 5 years time it will be a major achievement. NRL games have never, don't and won't attract attract 45,000 to Sydney "derbies" except in the most exceptional circumstances....the match going fanbase simply isn't there.

If Broncos keep winning & Manly maybe slip a game (they still have to play Melbourne) , imagine what the crowd will be at Suncorp on Round 26, on a Sunday arvo with both teams possibly playing for 2nd spot and last Home & Away game for DL. Got to get some tickets to that one.

Its been often said that Sydney teams have trouble drawing a crowd when the an out of town team is playing them.

Of the 10 smallest crowds to attend an NRL game in the past 5 years four involved a Sydney team playing another Sydney team.

So how do you explain it when two Sydney teams playing each other can't even get a reasonable crowd?

In my opinion, and I have said this for a number of years, there is too many teams in Sydney.
