Don't mind Mark Rudd. He is an AFL troll, but he is far more subtle than the rest. Take a quick look at his post history.

Are you watching Origin tonight mexicasa rudd? ratings should be good eh?

North Qld went through a major hurricane early this year. Obviously this has had some effect on their crowds this season. But there crowds have been dropping each year since 2007. So their drop off in crowds is not something new this season.

Brisbane last year had very good crowds. This year they have dropped on average over 2,400 fans per game compared to 2010. But their average crowd this season is still better then what it was in 2005 and 2006.

Manly's average crowd this season has dropped nearly 3,200 over last season. But since 2007 Manly has been struggling for crowds.

As for Cronulla, well their crowds are up this season. They are averaging 12,752 at the moment. Which is their highest since 2009.

I'm dubious of comparing average stats from this year to last, after all we have data for each team for 12 games last year over a WHOLE season while most clubs have only had 4 or 5 home games so far

Round 12

41,000 Double header Manly vs Brisbane / Canterbury vs Gold Coast
18,000 Newcastle vs Parramatta
15,000 North Queensland vs Sydney
10,000 Melbourne vs Cronulla
20,000 St George Illawarra vs Wests
13,000 Penrith vs Souths

117k total, 16,714 average

Double header 40k- i feel the appeal has dropped off it? Doesn't seem to be much talk of it
Knights v parra 16k- not sure could be 20k but staying conservative
Cowboys V Easts 17k- come on cowboys fans show up now or never
melbourne v sharks 10k
STGI v Tigers 18.5k
Penrith V Souffs 14k

Total = 115.5k, av = 16.5k

7 news report said 20k tickets left for game 2. If true better than i thought so far.

To a certain extent I agree with you.

But some teams like Melbourne, Nth Qld, Penrith, Brisbane and Manly are way down on last seasons average that it would require some massive crowds in their remaining home games to reach last years average.

hard round to tip crowds
no idea what is going to happen tonight with the double header
its the first time Broncos members have all had to pay to get in as its not their game

Double Header anything from 30 to 40K
Knights V Parra anything from 16 to 20K
Cowboys V Roosters 15K max ( sadly )
Melb V Sharks 10K
Dragons V Tigers anything from 16 to 20K ( weather a factor )
Penrith V Souths 12K

Cowboys will get their best crowd of the year so far. They are in good form, interest from Origin with the performances of their players in the game and sadly they will be paying tribute to Sam Faust.

Aren't the crowds only down by about 32K after 11 rounds?

After R.11

2011 81 games 1,374,185 total crowds 16,965 ave
2010 81 games 1,432,682 total crowds 17,687 ave

Crowds this year are down 58,497 or 4.1 percent on last year.

It would require a R.12 total crowd of 141,754 to pass 2010's total.

The Storm look up against it this week to get a decent crowd. Collingwood are playing at the G, Cirque Du Soleil are at Rod Laver while X Factor auditions are on at Hisense. All at the same time and all a stones throw from each other. Add to the we're playing the Sharks who are traditionally one of our lowest drawing opponents it doesn't look great, anything over 10k will be good IMO.
