Clearly not Manly fans, if their crowds for the first 27 weeks of non-knockout competition is anything to go by...

To be fair, the packed house the other week vs Newcastle was 15k which was hard to move around

We've had upgrades ongoing

I think both games need to be marketed to the average fan also instead of relying on the fans of teams playing.. I am overseas at the moment, but has there been any tv advertising? Any printed advertising to attend the games? This is where the NRL fails so badly, I see more ads on tv telling me to go to a swans game than any rugby league game..

LOL. First Raiders crowd above 15k this season and he thinks he's got a moral right to tell other clubs what they should get.

Even though hosting Canberra is one of the least attractive H&A fixtures to attend (our worst home crowd this year was against them), we'll draw +30k easily.

it was nearly 25K boofhead :lol:

& its the biggest game Souths have been involved in for 22 years .. it shouldn't matter who you're playing
we hear to the point of needing a bucket to empty our stomachs into .. how many fans Souths have from one end of the nation to the other

how bout we finally see em at a game ;-)

Manly call on Sea Eagles fans to turn out in force for Cowboys final

Manly fans have a reputation for being reluctant to travel to support their team. Picture: James Elsby Source: The Daily Telegraph

MANLY fans have been urged to avoid a repeat of last year's embarrassing semi-final turnout as it emerged that more Raiders than Sea Eagles supporters have snapped up tickets to this weekend's fixtures.

The defending premiers will take on North Queensland in a sudden-death semi-final at Allianz Stadium on Friday night - the same match-up that yielded a crowd of just 13,972 in the corresponding game last season.
As of last night, Raiders supporters had purchased 1890 tickets to Saturday's knockout semi-final against the Rabbitohs, whereas only 1162 Manly fans had bought tickets for Friday night.
Desperate to avoid a repeat of last year's poor fan showing, Manly co-owner Scott Penn said: "I know the players want to play in front of a big crowd this Friday night and we're hoping Allianz Stadium will be a sea of maroon and white."
It was a year ago yesterday that a crowd of less than 14,000 attended the qualifying semi-final between Manly and North Queensland, fuelling the view that Sea Eagles fans are reluctant to travel to support their team.

Manly went on to win the grand final in dramatic circumstances and, despite the exit of coach Des Hasler in acrimonious circumstances during the off-season, the Sea Eagles are now just two wins away from another grand final appearance.
After a weekend that saw the AFL (215,724) comfortably outdraw the NRL (101,747) in attendance figures, NRL interim CEO Shane Mattiske has implored Manly fans to head across the bridge to watch their team on Friday night.
Special bus services departing from Warriewood and Dee Why have been arranged.
"Manly have some incredibly passionate fans and they will be relying on the support of all of them at the ground," Mattiske said. "Friday night is sudden death against the Cowboys and it is the time that every fan should want to get behind their team."
SCG Trust CEO Jamie Barkley pointed out that more than 30,000 Manly fans attended the following week's semi-final against Brisbane last year at the same ground.
"Manly are among the most loyal fans in the NRL," Barkley said. "Like all finals games, this will be footy at its best. You wouldn't want to miss it at rugby league headquarters."
Martyn Penny, a Manly fan for 45 years, will be at Allianz Stadium when the gates open.
"Manly fans get bagged all the time but we are just as passionate as any supporters in the game," Penny said.
"I really hope a heap of Manly fans get there on Friday night to silence those who keep wanting to question that passion."
Cowboys football manager Peter Parr is preparing for a big crowd, saying: "We are expecting a hostile reception."

---------------

pretty disgraceful if you ask me. Canberra so far selling almost double the tickets that Manly have, and they are an interstate team!! wtf?

300ks for our fans to travel.... 2000 sold in a day to our fans
15ks for Manly fans to travel.... 1000 sold to that lot :sarcasm:

now we knew it would be bad .... but holy hell

Manlys fans are a disgrace
an embarrasment
they don't deserve a side like the one they've got ............ they should hang their heads in shame :x

They only have 15000 game attending fans

It's not that they won't travel. They just don't have enough fans

They are not an inclusive club

Do they have any initiative to provide for all their fans that live outside the peninsula ?

Already around 20,000 tickets sold for the South Sydney-Canberra game.

thats not too shabby for a day n a bit of sales
add stadium members & junior passes ?? & we're at over 25,000 already
the rate will slow down obviously but it looks even at this stage that it will be a very good crowd there on Sat Night

Biggest regular season home crowd average since 1968.

There were at least 3k of us in Melbourne. Would be great if at least 3k of you guys could make the drive up.

Why don't they move the Manly v Cows game to Suncorp (a neutral ground)?

Would get 30K plus.

Because the integrity of the competition is more important than a measly crowd figure.

Manly earned a home final, regardless of what the boofheads here think the crowd will be.

Whilst I agree with you on your sentiments about Manly's fans and their lack of support for the team in travelling to finals at the SFS in recent years is terrible (although scheduling an SFS Manly home final on a Friday night is the worst possible scheduling time), this criticism coming from a Raiders fan of all clubs is a bit rich. Canberra fans have hardly earned the moral high ground on crowds. Manly's home average - in a dump of a ground that's currently with restricted capacity due to redevelopment - still averaged higher that Canberra's in a modern, shiny, all-seater facility.

Canberra has made the finals this year, and hasn't missed consecutive finals since 1985-86, yet your crowds are the worst in the league and have been pretty much close to the bottom in averages in recent years. I know you don't want to hear this and I will cop a spray for it but that's pretty disgraceful to be brutally frank.

Even Penrith's crowds (which are also a joke) are marginally above Canberra's but at least the Panthers fans had an excuse this year - they have a crap team. What's Canberra's excuse? Sorry the "cold weather' arguement doesn't wash - if Canberrans choose to live there then you have to cop the good with the bad of living in a place like Canberra (although I agree Sunday afternoon games during the cold winter months would be best - but every club has to cop the scheduling rough end of the pineapple throughout the season).

Sure, the crowd at the semi final was fantastic, but where have these fake bandwagon supporters been all year? (and I'm not having a go at the true diehards that turn up every week).

Canberra went close to becoming the first club in years to have a season average of below 10,000 this year. So before having a go at other teams, have a look in the mirror and look past the one-in-a-Halley's-Comet semi final capacity crowd of fake bandwagoners for the finals and be honest about Canberra's embarrasing crowds.
