Great work.

At a time when the other major football comps in this country are experiencing vastly lower crowds, we've managed to beat our aggregate (according to the NRL at least). We've done this with four less teams and 28 less games than we had in 1995.

Anyone who thinks there's an issue with the crowds needs their heads read. I'm sure now that we are no longer as beholden to media interests as we have been since the war ended we'll see an even bigger increase. Onwards and Upwards, new dawn and all that sh*t. Hopefully it doesn't get f**ked up like the last one.

Shame they couldn't schedule the finals for max fan attendance.

Should have been

Fri Melbourne
Sat 6pm raiders
Sat 8pm cowboys
Sun 3 pm bulldogs

That would have been best schedule for fans

All Week 2 finals were locked in at the SFS due to a 10 year contract signed at the formation of the NRL I believe. The Week 3 finals were also locked in - I think it was 1 at SFS and 1 at Stadium Australia.

As I mentioned in a previous post. The only time the SCG trust (who are in charge of both the SFS and SCG) bent their arse over was for the 2004 Cowboys/Broncos SF to be played at Townsville. I don't know why they couldn't let the Cowboys/Storm 2005 SF to have been moved likewise, hence why they shouldn't have been surprised when only 15k turned out for that match.

As much as you and I and other members on this forum would love for that to be the case, unfortunately we live in the world where Ch9 exists. Ratings will always rule the roost as there's just too much as stake (or so they think) for them to compromise.

I'm not so sure about the SCG Trust's view on moving the 2005 Storm v Cowboys semi-final, but I do remember media reports that neither team wanted to give up home ground advantage to the other team.

Would ratings on aggregate for fri and sun really be much different if you swapped those games around? Put it on live on ch9 in Vic and it may well be bigger on aggregate.

15,000 (0.5%) less than the average record
I reckon the finals will beat this

A Bulldogs/Souffs PF will singlehandedly assure this. How many will turn out will depend solely on how many ANZ Stadium members turn out, as all general public tickets will sell out in an instant (meaning ANZ Stadium will at least get 70k minimum). After all, this would be Souffs biggest game since the 1989 PF and all those fans who marched down George Street 12 years ago will flock to the game in an instant (that's if they have the money to). I'm confident it will eclipse the 74k the Eels/Bulldogs PF got in 2009 as the biggest non-GF finals attendance.

Nevertheless, for this to happen, either one team would have to win and one team lose in week 1's Bulldogs/Manly and Melbourne/Souffs in order for them to be on the same half of the finals draw for week 3. If both teams win or lose, then it won't be possible.

Up against the Toothless wonders and the Piss+Poos?

This has been an excellent year for league in terms of our competition, but the Storm would get absolutely murdered.

Hope Tim Tam doesn't choke on that 45,000 for the wooden spooners, eels support >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>bullfrogs
Yeah, because all 45,000 were Parra fans. There wasn't a single Dragons fan there, right?

Oh and not to mention the game being a certain Nathan Hindmarsh and Luke Burt's (not to mention Dean Young and Ben Hornby's) final game had nothing to do with it.

And just for you:

Canterbury-Bankstown home attendance:
12 matches, total 282,864, average 23,572

Parramatta
home attendance:
12 matches, total 201,633, average 16,802

Yep, Eels support -----------------> Bulldogs

A team that has more or less been hopeless ever since it came in beside a time 25 years ago where they had it good compared to a team that has managed to be up there and fighting it out more times than just about any other club for the last couple of decades.

Yeah, not that impressive, the eels would smash the dogs if they were consistently decent like the the dogs have been.

When the eels last won GF, their average was a couple hundred away from doubling the bullfrogs average, have the dogs with their consistently good seasons over the last few decades ever doubled the eels average?

El Magics game had members of other clubs let in free to get their 41000 ;)

You're the one who said the Eels support was better than the Bulldogs (in reference to THIS year) ...

The Dogs have done an excellent job of building their crowds up. The Eels are historically well supported, but that doesn't mean too much unless they can convert it. There's no doubt the Eels are a big club.

I mean, sh*t, Manly is one of the better supported teams historically and look how great that's working for us.

Fantastic crowd. Hopefully now that the NRL actually has some cash we can start really hyping games up like that during the season. We need to make the big games an event.

Heh. I get mine from NRLStats.com... after years of conflicts between various sources, I just use theirs and be done with it.
Not 100% sure how the NRL ended up calculating things but I know they got the Bulldogs v Cowboys crowd incorrect, it was 15,650 but they originally published 18,763 before correcting it a week later.

Whether that 3k makes a difference to our calculations I've got no idea. Important things people are attending the footy.

Canterbury missed the finals in 2010 and 2011. In those seasons they averaged 20,670 and 19,528.

I'm also not sure how relevant crowd statistics from 1986 are either

So basically to sum up, Eels supporters are as fair weather as they come?
