There does seem to be a history of under-par crowds on Mother's Day

the AFL put up two low drawing games. Mothers Day kills crowds, they know this.

they've put a game on a monday night because they think that will have less effect on the crowd than mothers day.

early game mothers day is the bermuda triangle for football crowds.

Are you suggesting NRL dont know this? I think scheduling raiders/eels and sharks/storm werent exactly marquee crowd matches 5 weeks ago

i'm sure the NRL do know but people are still potting Canberra for a poor crowd, just using a different sport to reinforce the point.

Sharks v Storm should have been moved to friday night.

double headers are a shit idea.

What gets me regarding the Canberra crowd, is that the GWS pulled nearly 9000 against the Suns yesterday, and they're not even based here.

That's a load of crap, the majority of their membership is from the ACT,they promoted the game to the hilt, and GWS encompasses the ACT.The ACT govt pays the GWS mob $500,000 per game to stage the matches there.

Its in anotherway a Wests Tigers, with Leichhardt and Campbelltown.

Queensland REDS, Mothers Day 2012, against a Kiwi team - 36, 479. Sorry, what's the issue with Mothers Day? The Broncos pulling 27,000 plus. Maybe it's a NSW thing. Sure doesn't look like anyone should be blaming their Mums.

But but but, I don't come here to troll.

The Suncorp crowd was 41k, so try again.

Those Broncos 27k crowds are season low in both cases from memory, or close to it. Broncos average mid-30k.

:?

He's referring to the set of figures on Mothers Day in the last four years.

Crusaders are the equivalent of the warriors in drawing power in melbourne. Apart from that the rebels crowds are far from spectacular from what i have seen.

I hate to be picky but the raiders still got more. There are only 4 afl games in canberra so i suspect every afl fan within 100 km will be there for those games.

People will still bitch and moan but penrith, parra and canberra will post shithouse crowds until seasons end and most of those likely under 10k if current form continues
