Agree. This Souths v Dogs fixture is perfect for Good Friday. It has to be made a tradition. 50k down the track is not out of the question.

The only negative was the long lines at the Maccas there before the game. :)

Wouldn't it be better to have one game in Sydney and one in Brisbane or Melbourne

Yes. Melbourne would have been a great idea for the night game, considering there is no fumbleball on today. Live Storm game into Melbourne on FTA with no flogball in opposition.

There should be an Easter Monday arvo game as well.

I was on the western side. I like to pay attention to the crowd, from the size and the mix of teams supporters. From what I could see Souths fans outnumbered Bulldogs.

No chance at least 60% were dogs fans

lol @ everyone thinking 35k is a good crowd. Average at best. 75k would considered 'disappointing' for an equivalent AFL clash in Melbourne. Fair enough, Sydney is different. But still 50k should be the benchmark at least.

Sure league gets good TV audiences, but until Sydney's NRL crowds can come close to AFL attendances in Melbourne it won't be considered the #1 sport in the country.

Melbourne v Brisbane in Melbourne would be excellent on good Friday.
Yes! They need to stop holding this game the same week as State of Origin.

I think people forget that the main reason our TV audiences look so good is due to the regional NSW viewers. The actual viewers for Sydney capital city rating are not that massive, the game doesn't have the same monopoly of sports support in Sydney that AFL does in Melbourne or Perth. Couple that with a culture of not attending games from fans and I think 35k is an excellent crowd.

we can all quote selectively but if you go every round Melbournes Friday night games usually rate 50-150k more than Sydneys (for one game not combining the two NRL games as they will be in all likelihood to be mostly same NRL fans sat in front of the TV for both games)

Rd 1
Melb 468k
Syd 416k

Rd 2
Melb 479k
Syd 347k

Rd 3
Melb 488k
Syd 380k

Rd 4
Melb 635k
Syd 469k

Rd 5
Melb 683k
Syd 455k

http://www.leagueunlimited.com17/tv_ratings_2011.php

etc etc

This doesn't matter but is another indicator of why AFL clubs can attract much greater crowds than NRL clubs, AFL is more popular in Melbourne than NRL is in Sydney.

The Good Friday Appeal is hosted from Etihad (Docklands) and broadcast by 7 and has kids entertainment inside and outside.

Imagine if the STORM played the DRAGONS at 8:00pm and donated money from the gate to the appeal.

Even if Channel 7 doesn't get the entire rights package, they could get this particular game and incorporate it into their coverage.

You talk crap, I look at the tv ratings every week in TFC, I never see you post in there.

RL wins most Sundays as well.

So is that site that I have put the link on making the figures up? It seems the only site I can find that keeps a week by week table every season across all channels.

Ffs, so you are talking shit, why not go to TFC tv ratings thread and find the right links, it'll take 30 seconds and you'll get the real picture instead of posting a link for a bloody google search.

35k is fantastic considering it broke Souths record and was about a 15k improvement on last year. Sydney clubs are a fair bit off breaking 50k figures but i'm finding a bit more of a culture at games for families and friends to have memberships and that will turn into bigger crowd numbers into the future. Bulldogs already average over 20k per game...we should be around 25k per game in 2015 one would think. By 2020 I would hope teams like Tigers, Souths, Bulldogs, Dragons can all average 30k with games between these clubs attracting 50k + (but that would involve Dragons moving some games to the SFS).
