The main problem regarding NRL crowds is 9 teams in Sydney where there should be about 3. With 9 teams in one city you will always see near empty stadiums. It's not a good look.

Agreed. First Sydney team to get the chop has to be Bulldogs though

It really is ridiculous when you think about it. Our hunger for sport is second to none.

Just the UK soccer leagues attract 3 times more spectators than all the Australian sports leagues combined (31mill-13mill), throw in the other prof sports in UK and you will find per head of population UK has many more people attending games.

Counting amateur sport is hardly an apples and apples comparison. If you include amateur sports you open up a whole new can of worms.

Our consumption of professional sport shits on the US and anyone else.

Yeah amateur sports which have bigger TV rights and more expensive tickets than anything seen in Australia. I dont open up any other can of worms, because Australia has no amateur sport mass attendance to speak of.

3!? The most important market in this country should have no less than 6 teams. Ita one of the major strengths of the game. Advocating 3 is ludicrous.

And basically every time the Wallabies host a major country.

Origin is obviously a fantastic vehicle for the game but it occurs as a spectacle 2-3 times a year (allowing for dead rubber games that really don't have the same atmosphere as an alive game). Taking nothing away from Origin. But Union and AFL have many more games per year of atmosphere like that.

How many 50,000+ crowds do union get per year in Australia?

League will have at least 6 this year (3 x origin, 1 x club game, at least 1 x final, grand final)

What was the weather like in Canberra? Thought they would get a better crowd given home form and a day game. Granted cowboys aren't a huge draw
