These games really highlight the strength of a Perth team. They have already shown that they can pull a damn good crowd (even when they don't have a team to support). I think the timezone and the weather are both real bonuses.

Like tonight fox were able to have their sunday night match and the fans were given a sunday afternoon match at the same time.

The fact that Perth tends to have really good weather is also a big tick. Basically allows them to avoid the big rainy season we have that always sees crowds plummet.

Bring on a Perth team!

Still, those games we used to take to the WACA in the early 90's had bigger crowds so Perth people will attend RL.

If they get their own team again we must ensure a Superleague war doesn't break out again to screw everything up.

Congrats to the folk in Perth who've turned out in perfect conditions (as Perth is known for its Mediterranean climate). Will be great to see what the ground looks like when the last phase of the redevelopment is completed.

Be aware the area where NIB stadium is located, East Perth, is one of the ugliest most run down areas in the Perth Metropolitan area

The area outside is in desperate need of redevelopment, its just a clutter of old, useless buildings which have no direct description of purpose, people who go to NIB stadium, just go in and then out of the stadium, then home. there is nothing to do there or worth hanging around that area for (ie bars, pubs, live music? nada!)

Maybe the Perth redevelopment (Perth is doing urban redevelopment because of the Resources $$$) will do up that area?

Perth had a VFL match on at the same time as the NRL and got 34k. Clearly that's proof enough that RL can work in WA.

I'm aware that East Perth is a crapshack. The West is where all the action's at;-)

34k for a WAFL club game ?.
BTW well done Perth for the crowd and I know its only one game alongside the Wellington game but it seem's the Sydney and Brisbane club's fan's take there club's for granted judging by the crowd's this year yet NRL starved area's like Perth/Mackey etc will get behind them.

Jeeze you've not seen the world that much, if you think the areas rough, its not perfect. The area feels safe and there is loads of pubs/restaurants within walking distance. I have just had a wonderful day out at the match with my 9 year old.

Lol, it's a 10min walk from Northbridge and its dozens of pubs, cafes and restaurants. There's even a brothel 2mins away to celebrate a win! Beaufort street is 15mins other way with pubs and restaurants.

No AFL. The fact that RL can go head-to-head with one of the two big clubs over there and still sellout proves Perth is ready.

This. Every corporate box in the ground was sold as well. If this doesn't secure us an expansion spot nothing will. Now give us the three games like promised!

I think a good idea for the NRL to boost crowds next year is an all-Sydney season ticket. It should include:

- free public transport on the day of the game
- access to the GA section of any stadium in Sydney for any match (except ANZAC Day).

As tribal as our sport is, we need to start encouraging fans to attend matches in which their teams aren't playing. It's something the VFL does better than us.
