11th of may, sunday 3.00 p, dragons vs bulldogs

23rd may, dogs vs roosters, friday night football

souths vs dragons june 2, idiots put it MNF

souths vs tigers, june 13, friday night football

june 15, dogs vs eels, sunday 3 pm

jul 20, tigers vs dogs, sunday 3 pm

july 27, tigers vs dragons, sunday 3 pm

round 23 eels vs dogs

round 24 bulldogs vs tigers

round 25 dogs vs souths

they should be playing all these games on sunday 3 pm, make tickets cheap like today and they could probably crack 40 - 50k for more than half those games.

How many of them are during origin? I know the Dogs v Roosters will be... I think dogs v eels might be also!

Disgraceful crowd considering the promotion Penrith put towards it. Monday Night Football is a disaster crowd wise

Especially when you consider it's a public holiday, and not just a normal weekday night.

I agree with your point on MNF and as much as it's great to watch on tv, it's a crowd killer for the home team hosting the match. Although a lot of ppl like myself would like to see it go, it won't be going anytime soon since it's Fox Sports highest rating timeslot (closely rivalled by the Saturday 7:30pm timeslot) and they care more about ratings than the crowd attendances.

Maybe a special MNF promotion like what was done in 1996 which drew 2 35k+ crowds to Allianz (which makes it even more remarkable as it was during the middle of the SL war), as well as selling out Parramatta, strong crowds at Cronulla and North Sydney Oval. Belmore got a big crowd for a MNF match back in '86. I remember the Storm had some promotion down in Melbourne last year and got nearly 20k to a MNF match.

Agreed but you know ch9 won't let it happen, also dogs/dragons only once this year is stupid. These marquee matchups should always be twice each year.

But on your idea, it's exactly what needs to happen and with promotion and affordable tickets, you would be getting 30k minimum for these games.

The Bullsogs host the roosters and eels without origin players, just stupid scheduling.

yeh origin 2 is june 18, 3 days after dogs / eels

just killed a good game the spastics.

Yeah, fancy having a blockbuster match like Bulldogs/Eels held in the State of Origin round.

Bad, baaaaaaaad scheduling. Was it those stupid Yanks that the NRL ask at the beginning of every year to construct the 26 round draw who came up with that idea, among a myriad of other braindead ones such as having teams play each other twice already by Rd 6 (e.g. Knights vs Raiders in Rds 2 and 6)? Why do we have to pay them huge money to do something that many people in this country, let alone this forum could do?

I reckon we should be doing reactive ticket prices to sell out every single game even if its $5GA

I've often thought about this. Very hard to implement though. Ideally you would charge people at the end of the game based on how many turned up, but this is impossible to implement for obvious reasons. At the very minimum people need to know maxi how much they will pay before entering or even leaving home.

How about people can apply for a fidelity card or account, which is registered upon entry or included somehow with the ticket swipe. These people recieve a rebate from the NRL at the end of the year based on the number of games they went to, or linked to the attendences of the games they went to (a rebate for lowly attended games).

Both the Northern and Southern hill areas of Hunter Stadium would be packed to the rafters if that was allowed, rather than charge......$28 for an adult to sit in those areas! Exorbitant to the max.

So you punish members and people who actually get their tickets early?

There is obviously a place for targeted effective discounts. But extreme blanket discounts like that are extremely unhelpful. Why bother getting a membership, why bother buying before the day of the game. You're just punishing your best customers.

Members get guaranteed best seating.
Early buyers get next best/seats of choice.
Latecomers get the dregs on the cheap.
Sell the joints out. No one is getting 'punished'.
Don't see a problem with it.

the yanks just put it into their computer

the NRL, clubs ask for particular preferences.

if they fixed up origin scheduling theyd break their crowd targets over night.

Deadset thought that Penrith crowd was 10k+ for all money.

Think the time has come to can the permanent Monday night fixture come the next broadcast deal, or even before if they can come to an agreement. As we've seen crowds are just shithouse and the ratings aren't anything special either.

I still think it has a place in the game, but it should be alongside other floating fixtures times like Thursday and Sunday night - it should be used sparingly.

Very interesting idea but you'd need a min-max price,i knew the ticket price in gosford was $10 but couldn't make it

Exorbitant to say the least, not even seated and thats behind both ingoals yes?

No,Members get a membership pack and most members aren't in GA seating,at Brookvale the GA members seats is park benches painted black, which is a bit of a laugh but extend from 35-35 on each end of the field, which is where i'd want on the bench if i wasn't in love with standing at the back of the hill

There is obvious drawbacks to my ideas as far as members go,but as mentioned above member-rebates could be effective, plus members would NEVER be locked out under my proposed scheme

Our crowd on the weekend given the ticket prices were a travesty but too far from our home ground to really be realistically selling out without CC league fans fronting up and paying a bare minimum for a top notch match at the end of the day (suck shit cows)

80k people paying $5 is worth more than what,13k paying probably $28

Just looking at ticket prices is backward thinking,my 80k people will all want food, all want drinks and be able to only take in the bare minimum to the ground as a trade off for low ticket prices, people aren't smart enough to figure out where their money REALLY goes

Hell if Manly was to sell out brooky 10-12 times a year we wouldn't need a single member

I hope you actually don't think it's that simple.

The NRL draw would be one of the most complex in the world to complete, you can't have everything.

I don't think it is outsourced outside of the country any more.
Happy to stand corrected, but I think it is undertaken in Australia nowadays.
So waste of time blaming 'Yanks'.

Total crowds for this round was 169,408. This is the biggest R.7 total in the history of the game. The weekend total is the 12th highest round total ever.
