26,737 - Bulldogs vs Tigers at ANZ (2011)
26,486 - Broncos vs Roosters at Suncorp (2010)

I think that has more to do with were those games are being played then the teams themselves.

Parra vs Tigers is always a sellout at Parra, Note that Parra actually ave 30k+ at ANZ.

Read into that what you will.

I'm pretty sure the people who turned up cared more about the 2 teams playing than where (were?) the games were played.

Ever been to ANY football (soccer) ground in Asia? ANZ has it good by comparison.

I am sure that he is trying to insinuate that Rabbits and Dogs on MNF have the largest ave thus making them the largest clubs.

If you look at all MNF games they are played at home grounds.

Dogs Rabbits share the same home grounds of course they will have the largest crowds when they both share the same ground on MNF.

Not a good case for largest clubs in Sydney that's all i am pointing out.

That pic looks more than the announced crowd but either way 50K+ for a regular season match is f*cking fantastic. This was 2 teams who have been terrible for some time now. With a few big Sydney teams stepping up this season hopefully we see some more big crowds. Big crowds like that encourage people to come back because it's just awesome to be a part of, the more big crowds like that we can get the more people will want to come back.

On another note i can remember people on this forum laughing at the idea that big crowds like that improve the spectacle when watching on tv. Both those games were made so much better by the fantastic crowd. It was great to look at and the noise just adds so much hype.

In the lead up to the dogs game i was listening on the radio and you could barely hear them over the noise of the crowd. It just creates an awesome atmosphere.

It was awesome beig at the game tonight - and given the swinging nature of the game, it gave both sets of fans a chance to cheer.

Was a great night, even if we didn't get the result.

Parramatta home games at ANZ (not including finals matches or double headers) is about 26,500.

at least dogs vs eels should pull up the avg during that origin lull. getting a nice 23k+ crowd in a round with only a few games that usually average 14k will help a tonne.

Think the time has come to can the permanent Monday night fixture come the next broadcast deal, or even before if they can come to an agreement. As we've seen crowds are just shithouse and the ratings aren't anything special either.

Monday 7pm is the lowest attending timeslot (although Saturday 3pm may rival that over the course of this season for reasons already mentioned). It may have a bit more success if the timeslot was pushed back half an hour to 7:30pm to give people more time to get to the match on a working day.

As I said in another thread, around 2010/11, MNF and Saturday nights were regularly rating 300k+, occasionally cracking 350k+, and only a couple of occasions broke 400k (be interesting to know what the highest rated game on Fox Sports of all time is). Since 2012, the ratings have declined and less than a handful of games this season have cracked 300k. Dunno what has happened. Do you think that more households now have the digital FTA channels has any bearing on this?

I still think it has a place in the game, but it should be alongside other floating fixtures times like Thursday and Sunday night - it should be used sparingly.

I would replace MNF with Sunday night 6/6:30pm (6pm being much more family friendly, with the game finishing around 7:45pm), and like 1996, only have MNF at the back end of the season. The only time Thursday night will ever work is as season opener and the Thursday night before Good Friday. And even then, it won't work if kickoff starts after 8pm like Ch9 have done for the PAST TWO SEASONS! However, given the reaction from this year's season opener, Thursday night season openers are past their useby date and should go back to the Friday night double header with Broncos/Cowboys at Suncorp and to freshen things up with another all-Sydney matchup besides Roosters vs Rabbitohs (Bulldogs vs Eels would be a fantastic way to open the season. Basically, any matchup involving the big drawing Sydney teams). Also, more promotion from the NRL and media would be useful.

Exorbitant to say the least, not even seated and thats behind both ingoals yes?

That's right. Both are behind the ingoals (the worst view). Ticket prices have increased quite a lot since the western grandstand was completed in 2011. $28 to bring your own chair and sit on those hills is a massive ripoff.

Those hill-area prices need to be at least cut in half, and I'd slightly lower the prices of the Eastern grandstand (where the main tv camera faces towards) as I notice despite both being the same price, most people sit in the western grandstand and it doesn't look good on tv when there aren't as many people sitting on that Eastern grandstand, unless they went back to the days where grounds like the old Lang Park and Seagulls Stadium broadcasted from the Eastern grandstand.

Also, I don't know about other clubs like yours, but I don't notice anywhere near as much promotion for game day as there used to be. I remember back in the '90s there used to be heaps of ads on NBN (Ch9 affiliate from Gold Coast down to Central Coast) when the Knights had a home game coming up, and also lots of news and reminders in the local newspapers. It felt like everyone in the Hunter knew that the Knights were playing then and there on Sunday at ...pm. This is something that I notice has definitely dropped off in, at least, the last 10 years or so.
