All the whinging and whining and talk of crowd experts etc. in the world will not change sydney league crowds an iota.
If the NSW government want a consolidation of Sydney stadia, it would be in the interests of the ARLC to neogtiate and contribute to the building of a 30,000 to 40,000 seat central-western Sydney stadium
- in an existing lively, safe hub area with restaurants and shops
- with excellent, converging transport links
- a stadium with good socialising facilities and inexpensive food and drink options
serving Penrith, Tigpies, Paramatta, Canterbury and the Wanderers. That's five significant clients, more than any other stadium in Australia excepting the MCG and Ethiad.
In Parramatta is by far the most logical answer here, on the site of Parra stadium and the next door oval and field, or better still in Parramatta Park. It's almost a no-brainer. You have cityrail lines from Penrith, the SouthWest and the Inner West as well as the North all converging here, reataurants, a geographic center of city. The government has a real interest to invest here in something significant.
Souths, St George and Easts would all play out of the SFS. Manly have little option but to stay at Brookvale, any move will kill them. Cronulla may be in the same boat.
Do this and it is almost an optimal setup for NRL crowds in Sydney.
