they're just the pass marks

Parra probably will do better
not so sure about the Sharks

the Titans just aren't an attractive opposition especially on a Monday

Cronulla won't get anywhere near 15k. There has been very little hype in the shire around the game and people are fatigued with the ongoing ASADA debacle. Last year it was galvanising, now people are just tired. They hate the NRL, they're sick of the club and memberships are well down on last year. Add Monday night against out of town opposition and I reckon we will be looking at 10-11k.

You should know how hard it is to do up a set of fixtures. There are so many interconnected variables. It's not just a matter of Dave Smith clicking his fingers and it magically happening.

Cyclone season is every year. They could be thinking about it as a key variable for the Cowboys draw every year. No finger clicking.

Maybe they did think about it by putting the worst drawing away team in the league during cyclone season. If people are too scared to leave their houses, good work by the NRL not giving them an incentive to!

And I've addressed that. Making that a key variable gives the Cowboys an unfair competitive advantage.

The number one goal of the draw should be to make it as equal as possible on the field. Travelling earlier in the year is much easier than during origin or later. Every club would rather stack their away games early in the season.

Allowances shouldn't be made to favour the Cowboys over the rest of us for a factor that they knew about when entering the competition.

Having 7 games in Sydney and 3 at ANZ Round 1 has to be one of the most stupid scheduling decisions in recent years.

Calling it now, crowds will drop further from last year

If that's the case then all the positive momentum from the TV deal and increased memberships numbers mean nothing then if crowds keep on decreasing. I'm confident that somehow crowd numbers will improve from 2013 providing the big drawing games draw strong later on in the season eg Cowboys/Broncos, Eels/Bulldogs, Souths/Roosters,etc.

Hopefully, the Broncos get into good form and the numbers will improve quickly.

Your point about the making a draw to suit everyone being hard is valid.

Your point above is just pulled out of your arse. No team would prefer to start the season with a run of away games, its not a competitive advantage in any way. If anything you would prefer to play home games initially build some momentum going into your away games.

And IF, and thats a George Rose size IF, fair scheduling was the concern of the NRL, why do Brisbane get every game on Friday for virtually the entire season?

Surely your not going to claim that having a guaranteed 7 day break, every week is somehow not as advantageous has playing 4 away games in your first 6 weeks?

Draw was terrible, ridiculous to start the season with only one game outside Sydney and its during the wet season in NQ!

No game in SE Qld, NZ, Victoria, Canberra, Newcastle, its no wonder crowds are poor, there's 7 games competing against each other for attendances in a city with a notoriously apathetic sporting public.

The NRL dropped the ball on this one.

Yeah but supporters support one team, not multiple teams. Why would they be competing for attendance?
