Funny - my wife and I were only discussing that 26 rounds was too many.

The scarcity argument doesn't exactly work when you look at S15 teams who only have 8 home games and still average less than 15k.

The best thing to improve crowds might actually be a conference system. Sydney clubs obviously draw the best crowds against other Sydney clubs and non-Sydney clubs draw better crowds against other non-Sydney teams e.g. Melbourne v Brisbane, NZ v Melbourne.

Geez there is a lot of panicking going on in here. We don't need to make huge radical changes to the game to improve crowds.

Wouldn't we be better off working with some clubs to build niche markets arounds shitty game times

Such as Melbourne on Mondays - no afl
Auckland sat (3.30 - 530 )- time zone
Canberra 2pm Sunday - freezing cold
Cowboys - Sat nights - traveling fans

Instead of just throwing darts.

Now we are talking - We need some IQ behind the scheduling. The way it is now is a dogs breakfast.

2pm Sunday is the raiders staple slot currently and is producing poor crowds.

Maybe 11k at anz

Didn't go to the game at Bluetongue yesterday but went for a walk down by the stadium and sounded like a decent crowd, the circus was on next door and it looked like some families were doing both. Was a great atmosphere and I almost ducked in but the mrs said no....

20 teams - 19 rounds with 3 bye weekends for SoO would be perfect IMO.

And have your schedule and opponents locked in each season HAHAH in year 1, 3 and 5 and AHAHA in year 2, 4 and 6.

That way, you play everyone Home and Away in a 2 year cycle.

The TV contract factors in having 26 rounds. So if the game wants the TV money then it has to have that many rounds

All well and good in merit but why should Melbourne as a club and supporters cop the worst possible slot? I fully understand that building crowds are important but when it comes to Monday every club should have their fair share. It's the worst possible slot that nobody wants and i'm sure the vast majority of clubs and fans would agree with me.

I enjoy watching MNF on tv and am happy enough for my team to have a couple games a year at home in the interests of fairness but any more than that no way.

10,373 at the footy tonight.

Shite.

Pure shite to add to the shite round of sydney crowds. 5 games for 53,578 people!

Granted the matchups were not great but these attendances are not acceptable

Melbourne was about the only decent crowd all weekend

I saw adverstisements for the Doggies/Titans game too, something like buy a ticket and get the 2nd for $10 or something, can't remember exactly but something about $10 tickets

Can't even get a better crowd then the wooden spooners with promotions
