Then the NRL should revise its records. Either way one of the next two matches will enter the top 5 of that list.

the NRL has only been around since 1998
that link I posted has records dating back to 1957 for the NSWRL & ARL

it is far more accurate
It gave me the shits delux when last years last round game at ANZ between the Dragons & Parra was declared the biggest since 1969

it wasn't
50,174 watched the Roosters & Manly in 1974

some jurnos .. probably the same one who said 35,317 is the Biggest Bunnies H&A crowd ever
just need to do a bit of research once n a while... ;-)

DT reporting an expected crowd of 35,000 for tonight! Let's hope a few more turn out.

I would have thought 42k would be parr for this match. Maybe more?

On the ticketek website, the map indicates that they were hoping for the level 6 of ANZ to start selling.

But there are still half way seats on level 4 section 407 available...

The 35,317 was in the official NRL media guide as our highest regular season crowd.

It's all about money mate and the AFL smashes the NRL on that front.

:lol::lol:

wow
this article would win a prize for the most unbalanced piece there is

its comparing financials with the first year of the fumbles n bumbles new media deal
with the last year of the old NRL media deal ... & even its not accurate :?
the NRL earnt 185 Million in 2012
100 Million from media & 85 Million from non media

add another 150 Million a year straight up... to the NRL number from its new 1.2 Billion media rights ... up to 335 Million in 2013
for an apples to apples comparison

the ARLC as a head body also claims it will be earning 400 Million a year by 2017
that's right up to & almost along side singletballs expected 450 Mill the same year

the VFL smashing the NRL money wise
nah
that's an urban myth.;-)[/QUOTE]

Looks like Queensland is slowly changing so it is 50/50 AFL and NRL and this is why we need to expand into Perth and Sydney.

We need to fight fire with fire.

Before it is too late and our game is a provincial backwater game that can't compete nationally.

God Bless the Melbourne Storm. God Bless Rugby League.

Are you seriously believing this article? This is an attempt by AFL journalists to pump up that codes tyres at a time when the lions are struggling on and off the field.

First of all go and have a look at sporting pulse and compare the regular competitions in each region and you will see the afl doesn't even come close.

Secondly the article itself is using auskick figures (i.e the 6 week program who's name the carefully leave out) to create the illusion of 155k participants. Take that joke out and their regular participants are 62k and who knows with how rubbery their figures have proven to be in sydney and other areas its probably even less!

Also you can be guaranteed that of those participate in auskick a very large proportion will be in fact registered with soccer/league/union anyway.

The AFL and its media cohorts continue to pump misinformation and spin into the public domain to spoil bad stories and create the illusion of its popularity outside of Vic/SA/WA/Tas. Please don't fall for their crap

Knock on - do you even live in Brisbane?

No one gives a RATS ARSE about the Lions. Was fun to go for them as a youngster for 2 games a year (Prelim and Grand Final). But then the whole state (bar Victorians living in QLD) has now, most certainly forgotten about them.

Last lions game was 13k? They are on par with the Roar.

People outside of QLD wouldn't believe the free run the Lions get in the Courier-Mail thanks to the Victorian sports editor. Their avg crowds have dropped by over 10K (if they were accurate crowds and not the inflated figures it's be much more) in less than a decade.
Yet all we read is how more people are going to AFL games in QLD than ever, the game is thriving and shit like that.
