Were all charges withdrawn?

Plead guilty to two minor charges unrelated to the arrest - throwing his phone at a car & kicking a bicycle. 2x public nuisance charges. Basically they'll be a fine & probably no conviction recorded.

Back in the good old days, if you were drunk and unconscious in a public place, the cops would chuck you in the back of the paddy wagon, and put you in the lockup until the morning. No bright torch in the face, or capsicum spray. In the morning they'd let you out, and the beak would later that morning fine you $1 for drunkenness, which was never paid anyway. End of matter. Since then the offence of drunkenness has been repealed. They can ask you to move on, or if you are too drunk to move on they can detain you for your own protection, and attempt to contact someone who can care for you.

You can't just leave drunks to sleep it off in public places, no matter who they are.

Footage of the incident there... can see why the magistrate deemed the arrest unlawful.
Lol how the f**k did they think they were going to get away with arresting and cuffing a sleeping person when it's all on video? They should have just dropped the charges after their f**k up and everyone would have move on. They had many, many chances to do so but persisted till the inevitable end. Now everyone gets to see the embarassing footage and Curtis gets a nice Christmas bonus when he sues for unlawful arrest.

That's just an abuse of powers and those coppers should be charged themselves. It's terrible when you see your tax dollars being wasted on idiots like them.

they probably had no idea who he was. Any nrl player caught pissing in the bushes becomes headline news. But after viewing that footage months ago, why did the prosecutor think it was a good case? The police come out looking more stupid than Scott after this.

Honestly having seen the bodycam footage its its amazing how little reaction Scott had to the cops trying to wake him. These cops are f**king kidding themselves.

Thankfully there's video footage showing his innocence and he was cleared of the charges. Without that we would tend to believe the police had good reason for the charges.

They haven't done much to dispel the idea that cops just load people up with bulldust "resisting arrest" & "assault officer" charges whenever they want to cover up their own unprofessional behaviour.

"Officers attached to Surry Hills Police Area Command located the man and attempted to assist him...[t]he man was [then] tasered and arrested": Source

Hot dang that's some mighty fine 'assistance' provided by the NSW Police Force?!

I'll reserve my opinion on this matter until Mr Scott has his day in court...

Take the floor Timmay Scott this thread is all yours.
