In a lot of ways it's not his fault. In no way should he be a starting second rower. He has no idea how to run a line, block play or any basic second row shit. Potter shouldn't be selecting him there, it's a shame Paterson has a long term injury as he was our best in his starting game against the sharks.

Fail to see what Siro offers the side ATM, should play the year out as a back rower in nsw cup, hopefully by next year he is ready

Agree 100% re Siro.

He gets talked up by 'all' of his fathers old mates especially the guys on 2GB.

I agree with MU on where he should be playing, either 5/8 - think of Sutton with his size or centre - think of Close, Miles, Smellyfinger and their size.

I think he went well last night and he deserves more time. I think too many posters are expecting him to play like SBW.

He might turn into a gun second rower but he is showing us enough right now to be in the team.

Before Thompson, Gavet, Taupau, Sue? I'd rather have their work rate from the start as back rowers.

Thompson plays on the right, Taupau is a prop , Sue is a centre player not a left or right and hence he takes the Blair place when he comes on, Gavet was among the tigers worst last night.

Sironen ran for more meters then our other backrowers, made 26 tackles and every time he ran he made meters after the hit.

He is also only 4 games back from injury and only about 10 games ever in the backrow- given that he is going great guns and will only get better

I hear you boon boon however, is 1st grade the right place to learn the where's and how's and when's of back row play?

I think a longer stint in NSW Cup is the go. I hope he turns out to be the player many people think he's going to be.

As a comparison, Buchanan was thrown in the deep end last year and like Groat before him, it was too soon. Buchanan has seen more time in NSW Cup this year and from what they said on the radio on Wednesday night, he was one of the stars in the SOO curtain raiser for NSW Residents team. I know he's a prop and it's not the same as Siro and back row play but someone has seen enough of him in NSW Cup to justify the selection and no doubt he has learnt and improved in the 'lower' grade.

Im worried both Sironen and Moses have been thrown in too quick.
Both look out of place and offer very little.
Both would improve with the rest of the year in Reggies.

Yep. To me its pretty clear cut that he deserves his spot.

People must be expecting him to be his dad or SBW or something. Give the kid some time. He is already a good player.

They don't look at all out of place.

Obviously not true.

Fair point but they will probably improve more in first grade and they look up to it now.

Sirro already looks the best option as our left side backrower and I think Moses looks like he has the best passing game in our squad.

Moses has a problem just about being physically ready but he will get stronger and being in FG might be the best place to do that given we are missing so many backs - Tedesco, Rowe, Simona, Moltzen (all 4 are prob our top 4 fullbacks) and also Anasta and now Richards

It's probably unfair to single Sironen out for criticism seeing how badly the whole team played but he is such a frustrating player. They used to say that Dane Carlaw was built like Tarzan and played like Jane which is a far summation of Sironen too.

I think Siro has been playing solidly and will only get better. He is big, strong and skilful but still learning his role as a second rower. We should remember that he had an interrupted off season with injury and has only been back for a few weeks now. He just needs a little bit of confidence to start becoming a real terror on that left flank. I am certain he will get there with a little bit more experience. Would have been nice to be able to give him some of that experience in NSW Cup but with injuries and the like we just do not have that luxury.

I thought siro went well yesterday, ran good lines and defensively was sound. The issues were on the opposite side of the field

Has Sironen had a full off season yet where he's trained as a back rower?

The problem we have is that he has the mindest of a half in a back rowers body.

I'd seriously consider making him a centre.
