I think the 'try hard' calls are uncalled for. Everyone thinks Rabs is a dick for being a meathead and not even attempting to pronounce the island names correctly yet now people are slamming Husband for doing the opposite?

I agree with Lego Man's comments in the main forum. This try-hard stuff is nonsense, particularly on Mateo. I get what he's trying to do, which is cool, but I would have thought the first golden rule on commentary would be to find out how the player pronounces his name, and out of respect, follow it. Mateo doesn't pronounce it like a transient gimp.

It pings me off no end where people try to put their own slant on pronouncing my name... I imagine it'd be slightly infuriating on a professional level. Irrespective of how so called tradition has it, it really is a matter for how the player and his/her family wish the name to be pronounced as.

The rest of his call on the weekend seemed fairly decent. Better than that myth Costigan... amazed they kept shelling out to fly him backwards and forth across the Tasman.
