There would be numerous posters on this forum that have suffered depression or know someone close to them who has or even both.

And even if Bennet leaving is a contributing factor I dont see how he should be blaimed for it. Its very easy in hindsight to sit on a forum and say "Bennet should of known" but in reality thats bullshit. I know families who have lost someone to suicide and they say they had no idea the person was unhappy.

of course it is a contributing factor.
wake up.

haha
It's all just a coincidence that the week Bennet bails Boyd ends up in a mental health facility.
Bennet should take a bit of ownership on how he has brainwashed this bloke into following him around.

Boyd worshipped the bloke ....it was obvious.

Its obvious you have an axe to grind with Bennett that has nothing to do with Boyd. Didnt even read the whole article before you started blaiming him.

Anyway i hope Darius gets better, its a f**king horrible thing to have.

wake up.

You're all sorts of fail over the last couple of pages.

Darius grew up without a father. Bennett has been that figure to him over the last few years, and probably kept him a lot more stable in that time than if Darius hadn't been taken under his wing. Without Wayne, this week could have been 10 years ago and his career might have never happened.

Of late, we are led to believe Darius' beloved grandmother has become sick, his best mate may never walk again, he wasn't being paid, and quite possibly other things that you or I cannot possibly know about.

Yet you have an axe to grind about Bennett, someone who has done his utmost to be a support to a player who needs it more than most given his past. It's a bit pathetic really. It's got jack all to do with brainwashing. Darius clearly has a deep affinity for Wayne - so what? You can't possibly judge having not known or experienced what he's gone through in his life.

.

I dunno mate im not all seeing like you.

I dont think Bennett should be blaimed for it if it did though, when should he have realised that one day this would happen? At the Broncos? The dragons? Should he have never helped the kid at all? FMD your point is so stupid to me.

how the f**k am I making light of mental illness?
FFS.
FTR I bet my balls I know more about it than you .
I also bet my balls I know exactly where Boyd is getting help.
All I've said is bennett probably should have let him stand on his own two feet long ago.

Such a small bet isn't worth taking up, Bennett undoubtedly thought Boyd needed a father figure from day one. Fathers don't desert their sons just because someone who knows nothing of the circumstances says they should. Bennett obviously doesn't mind devoting his time and Boyd needs his time. His own two feet have got him to the highest level of the game, maybe he deserves a little attention

Carch's logic implies that human beings should never become close or help each other because of the disappointment possible when it all goes wrong.

I'm saying Bennett would've known Boyd had mental issues.
I'm also saying he should've seen boyds infatuation him as probably unhealthy in the long term.

A lot of posters on here had a dig at Boyd for following Bennett when he changes clubs.
Bennett himself must've had a say in it.
If you think his granny being sick is the whole cause of this you are deluded.

Boyd only really "followed" Bennett to the Knights. The Broncos didn't want Boyd and weren't renewing his contract - he phoned Wayne up for advice and Wayne basically said, well you can come with me - and so it was. It's not like it was a planned move to go together like it was with the move to the Knights.

In all likelihood, had the Broncos wanted to keep Boyd - they could and would have.

At least, this is how Wayne recalled the story recently. I don't see why he'd have any reason to embellish or lie about it.

Its probably be said before in the previous 25 pages of this thread, and for one minute I do not want to down play the seriousness of mental illness, but it seem when one our NRL stars stuffs up big time off the field, they usually have a problem such as bi polar or depression that is the cause of the problem and are sent to rehab. Maybe Iam a little cynical but it happens every time. Boyd might have a real problem, but you get the feeling at times that its a quick fix for the player and the club to deflect bad press

Have you ever stopped to think that a lot of the League players actually have problems in their lives? These problems become public, the guys are young and aren't equipped to deal with the situations and end up doing things that are not helpful. It happens all the time, it's just that these guys live their lives in the public eye.

It's up to the individual player to seek help. Someone can be depressed as all get out, but appear totally fine.

Working on the assumption that if you say something often enough it will become true?

That's one way to try and fulfil your own prophecy

So if they are not equipped to deal with this stuff how the f**k are they expected to work it out and seek help themselves?
Contradiction much....
Haha
Malapropistic proportions was it?
