It's pissing down rain and you guys are f**ken depressives. We will make the 8 this year.

I try to be an optimist, however, there is no chance in heck I can see us making the 8. I can see us beating the Broncos, Cowboys, and Dogs in golden point.

These problems have existed for a decade now. There is never any improvement and the culture of accepting mediocrity remains. It makes being a RL fan such a dire existence.

I hate these comments because it's like it's a mind-set and if you just believe everything will change.

You don't improve a teams performance by stating I'm not accepting mediocrity. You get a well coached team full of talented players and if they execute well you should win games.

I think people's expectations were too high prior to the season starting and now people are losing perspective. It's two games. Give it some time.

i for some reason sat through our 1st half last night and I actually thought there was very encouraging signs apart from the cheap turn overs we gave the chooks. The thing that frustrates me was the lack of support. Brooks, Liddle, Laurie all made breaks yet the nearest support player would be twiddling their thumbs waiting for the next play

The 2nd half was a total disaster and I couldn’t watch the rest though.

I know, I was trying to be sarcastic! Our rich man has enough to buy Nick politis 10 times over, and we are still broke
I don't think we are broke either? In fact I think we are one of few clubs who are self financial.

We are all hurting with our results, but we don't need to beat the top 6 teams to get into the 8 and atm, I will be happy if we achieve that.

I also believe that being on top is a cycle, I don't believe it is sustainable, I also think our time is not that far away?

I wasn't expecting us to make the 8 this year, but f**k me I was expecting us to at least have a go.

Gonna put at least $1,000 on Newcastle to win 13+...easy money

If you were Harry would you pour money into this bunch of soft cocks, you must be dreaming.
The club should be looking for ways to generate their own money not cry that some old rich bloke isn't giving them money and it's not fair.

100% correct about the support play,

The halves were very ordinary. Brooks has shown nothing in the two games this year to suggest it's "his team."

He has regressed here. At one point he had a reasonable kicking game and it has vapourised. Long kicks always find the back 3 on the fly, short kicking game is woeful and his 5th tackle options are as bad as ever.

It's time for him to find another home. I'm sure he's a nice enough kid and it was great that he snubbed other offers from better clubs to stay loyal but there's been ample time to turn it around. Can't keep being a benevolence society. This year's squad is probably the best it's been for a while, at the very least since Tedesco, Woods and Moses all f**ked off, and they appear to have gone backward.

There's no bodies in motion when we have the ball. No offloads. Our left edge is a f**ken shambles in defence. When BMoz scored his second, soon as Keary broke line (due largely to the non-effort by BJ,) our left edge gave up chase, and that's what allowed Morris to sneak through when Keary put it back outside. No f**ken effort in pursuit at all. No pressure to make them work for the points.

I don't believe they are crying for him, infact I believe we are one of the few clubs who can actually stand on there own 2 feet?

How much of that is coaching though? Are they being instructed to be flat in attack instead of deep? Are they being instructed not to offload? Are they being instructed to run options or support?

What are they being coached seems more apt, as they don’t seem to be doing much of anything atm?

Appreciate they are a new team, but I mean they are FG players, it’s there reputation on the line as well. They have a unique chance to lift this club into the 8 and make some history for themselves but they are failing at present. Not sure what other incentive they require.

But I still have faith that we will get into the 8, once we tweak the team to work as a cohesive unit.

I've been looking through our roster, going around and around on what exactly we need to do to fix the squad by 2022. I'm looking through the list and there are only 3 positions we need to sign for:
- Halfback
- 2nd Row
- Centre

If we are able to clear out Packer, Mbye, BJ and Brooks, then adding in Reynolds money, we will have a huge war chest to use on these 3 positions. We will no doubt have to pay out a portion of their salaries to new clubs, but we should be in a good position to sign some big names. I feel like it may actually be easier to sign 3 big names than 1, as it takes pressure off the one player coming in who feels like it is all on their shoulders. I'm not sure who is / will become available for 2022, but I honestly think we can field a top 8 team if we were able to clear out the dead weight and bring in 3 marquee level players.

1. Laurie
2. Nofa
3. Roberts (worth persisting with)
4. *New Player*
5. (I feel one of our young backs will own this position by end of season)
6 . Doueihi (worth persisting with)
7. *New Player*
8. Musgrove
9. Liddle/Simpkin (one of them will own the spot by end of 2022)
10. Taumoa
11. Luciano
12. *New Player*
13. Twal

14. Ofa
15. Stefano
16. Blore (unless Garner massively improves I feel Blore will rise to the top)
17. (Plenty of options for Utility spot)

It's not as much doom and gloom when you look at it this way...AND this is assuming that the players to be cleared out do not turn their form around....you never know?

Half time report said Madge mentioned " support suport support" in attack and in defence. So it seems he expected it but it was the players who didnt deliver.

I guess Siebold had same problems at Brisbane. Players either aren't interested or aren't capable of following the coaches instructions.

We were pretty much in both games at half time, obviously especially the raiders.
We played the raiders and the rooters. As soon as the draw was released 6 weeks ago . . . ALL of us were saying " f**k, we've got the raiders and the rooters in the first 2 weeks"
So what the FKK are we moaning about ? We were all saying that we could well be 0-5 after the first 5 rounds, such is the vagina of a draw we got first up.
We fell away in both second halves. Duh.
Put simply . . .We don't have a leader to put us back on track when things start unravelling.
No forwards leader, no backs leader.
The biggest talker is a kid who hasn't even been here a month.
Brooks simply isn't the answer.
We put shit on Moses for yelling at his team mates . . . at least the little tanker is yelling something.
I'm hoping that as this season progresses, we build a few combinations or someone like either of the Simpkinses gets a run and lights it up !

Yeah, I was really hoping James Tamou would have helped the side stick to the game plan to fix this sort of thing?

Assuming Madge was a bit more specific than that.

last weeks game did show us how far we are from top 4 Now let’s see if we belong in the 8

I would have liked to see the Jet latch onto those limited breaks last week..I think he was out with his shoulder problem..They never really heal by themselves.Hopefully I’m wrong
