I've seen a lot of things at the footy but the funniest one for me was at Telstra in "04 (Bulldogs V Dragons). After the Bulldogs getting to a healthy lead, a man and his 8 or 9 yr old son were shouting and calling Dragons players and fans every name under the sun. Where I was sitting was a mix of Dragons and Bulldogs supporters who didn't appreciate their crap and threw rubbish(empty coke bottles, etc) at them.

It's unfortunate, but you get idiots at ALL games and I find if you don't retaliate to their garbage then generally you'll be left alone. I don't mind a bit of crowd banter (I've had some fun with rival supporters whether winning or losing), as long as it doesn't get heated.

Mate, when people man handle children. Or pick on families, I prefer to step in. You may be one of those people who just watches from afar. But I prefer to act.

You come across that "plenty " of times at the footy eh?

Can honestly say in over 30 years Ive never seen a drunk manhandle a kid at the footy.

There are police and security at games for this very reason though, your actions only escalate an already volatile situation.

So because you haven't see it, it means it doesn't happen?

2 instances I can remember very clearly. One at an early 90's rugby league 7's. Bunch of 10-12 yr olds being cheeky bastards. Some drunks guys in their early 20's had enough of their remarks, jumped over us and start hitting the kids. We break this up, and hold them for secuirty to take away.

Another incident, after a Bulldogs vs Saints game, standing at the train station. Bulldogs supporters start picking on a bloke with his 2 kids, pushing the father. We step in to stop what was happening.

It doesn't always involve fighting. But I'm prepared to fight if nessary. But you do need to get involved. If your go is getting security first, great, but sometimes thats not possible, or will be too late.

heh, read the first page of this thread and thought it was oddly civil and on topic. Skipped to the third page, and I instantly forgot what the thread was about...

Personally, I go to every Knights home game, partly due to working there but before that started I used to go to pretty much all of them (from about 2000). Have only been to 2 away games though, including the 2001 grand final, so that's a pretty poor effort.

If I had nothing on, and if a game was being played near me, I'd love to go to neutral games. Since there's only the one first grade stadium in the city though there's little chance of that. But I headed to a Sharks vs. Panthers game in Penrith last year and had a great time. Local comp stuff would be better, but I'd prefer to have some commitment instead of showing up once a month or so.

Glad to see it doesnt always involve fighting, but glad to see your prepared to fight if necessary, even on complete strangers behalves...you should be proud.

I missed it (PL) due to work. Can't wait to see Shifty Sherwin back in action next weekend.

In other news, the heroes' heroes are rife in this thread.

Do Johns Magic, raider_69 and to a much lesser extent these days ink realise they're just forum copping me?

Report my posts and leave it to the mods. ;-)

Skeepe used to be sane!.

And Timmah used to be, actually he's the same.

Drive up to 200km to watch my team play

May go and watch a RG match if scheduled on match day and not clashing with U20/FG. But won't come back to watch them if scheduled another day

I go to all the Rooster's home games and most of the away games (all in Sydney) and some interstate.
I only go to a finals game as a neutral.
