There are police and security at games for this very reason though, your actions only escalate an already volatile situation.

2 instances I can remember very clearly. One at an early 90's rugby league 7's. Bunch of 10-12 yr olds being cheeky bastards. Some drunks guys in their early 20's had enough of their remarks, jumped over us and start hitting the kids. We break this up, and hold them for secuirty to take away.
Another incident, after a Bulldogs vs Saints game, standing at the train station. Bulldogs supporters start picking on a bloke with his 2 kids, pushing the father. We step in to stop what was happening.
It doesn't always involve fighting. But I'm prepared to fight if nessary. But you do need to get involved. If your go is getting security first, great, but sometimes thats not possible, or will be too late.
