Makes you wonder how many people who purort to support gays privately despise them.

It's all a part of looking good in the eyes of others.

Well f**k looking good. I don't know many people that support the gay movement, including myself and I'm a devout atheist.

What do you mean by 'support the gay movement'? What's the gay movement? Honest question.

I mean, if it's the ability to choose who they share a bed with and who they want to join in a civil union...then f**k yeah I support the 'gay movement'. Where you say movement, I say rights. Potato, potatoe.

Don't blame an ant for doing ant things.
The nest is the problem.

Call him out and stamp your feet all you want.

He won't be sanctioned by the ARU for stating something regarded as 'fact' in his belief systems.

Those beliefs are funded by the government in our schools,
We all like to say how tolerant we are of different cultures and belief systems,
We all believe in freedom of religion,
We all think its so special and culturally powerful when the Islander players do their prayer circle thing.

How can you sanction someone for their beliefs when society actively sanctions those beliefs in so many ways? This is his reality and society has encouraged those beliefs in him for his entire life.
Where's the line?
Should religious folk be prevented from preaching? Or should they only be allowed to preach the happy nice parts?

Freedom has some costs. If hypothetical islander-religious-gay kids are hurt by this, that truly sucks. But anyone growing up gay in a heavily religious environment is gonna hear a lot worse than a moronic footballers instagram account. Because we're a free, belief tolerant society.

It's not even really hate, the way the god botherers see it.

It's consequences. If Folau said "if you drop an egg its gonna smash", he doesn't hate eggs.
Going to hell is a consequence of sinning. He doesn't hate the person going to hell. It's out of his control.

Also he probably feels exactly the same way about people who have internet porn addiction like me. If I walked in his church wearing a t-shirt saying 'Porn Addict and Proud' I bet he would council me that I am going to burn in hell.
So in a sense he probably "hates" all of us. Which I am fine with.

Gays aren't even special.
Anyone who has sex before marriage is in the same boat.
Oh, and anyone who isn't a mormon or whichever cult he's joined up to these days

What is your problem with hate? What, do you live in some hippy commune. Get in the real world. Hate makes the world go around.

Certainly it makes an internet forum go round.

Hate when aimed at a minority group has a significant history of problems. If only they could wash away the gay, or repent, or whatever Israel would have them do.

It's possible to hate the sin but not the person.

I would prefer he didn’t, I wouldn’t be outraged if he did.
He seems like a dickhead and we have enough of those.
I only want people blacklisted if they compromise the very integrity of the actual sport though match fixers etc. outside of that it should be up to the clubs to set their own dickhead policies.

NRL doesn’t need him, so if he does return, it shouldn’t be on an over inflated contract

Israel Folau is a great player. If he played full back or centre he could carve up the NRL. He would be a force in Origin and attract lots of union viewers to his club and Origin games.

But a further bonus to having Israel Folau back in the NRL is that his departure would screw the Waratahs, the Wallabies, and interest in rugby union in Australia.

Only if it is at the Roosters who clearly are the only club with cap room to afford him.

Thing is... Other people may not state these beliefs publicly but they still believe it.

If you walk into any number of churches on a Sunday, you'll still hear ministers and priests and Rabbi's and whatever else you want to call them, preaching that gays will go to hell.

You'll also hear any number of other bs statements being made.

Some bloke that dies 2000 years ago is going to come back and judge us all for our sins, or if you kill yourself as a soldier of Allah you will be granted virgins in the after life or some day the spaghetti monster is going to return to planet earth and take all the righteous people to planet spaghetti..

The problem is not Israel and his beliefs. He's just telling everyone what the preacher tells him in Church on Sunday. The problem is that religions of all kinds continue to drag the world back to the dark ages.

Planet spaghetti?

How do I gain admittance to this haven?
