No way should Parra and Manly be classed as Premiers. As a Manly fan 2007 would not feel like we were Premiers of the NRL awarded it to us.

But it's not a "what if" argument. It's simply an argument about a particular result tat has now been scrubbed. The choice simply is this - do we have a result for our GF - or a non event?

I kind of agree with you on your first paragraph - not about the grand final though. I think it's unfair that teams will lose and win against this cheating team. But I really can't see an alternative, the players have to play otherwise they will leave the NRL.

As for your second paragraph, you obviously have no sense of logic at all, and you are wrong. And as many times as you write 'Parra are the reigning premiers', you will always be wronge, and be laughed at.

But on the other hand, the only way that Parramatta would even get close to actually winning a premiership is by default, so I would be clinging on to anything I could if I were you as well.

Parra wouldn't have made the finals last year if the Bulldogs two stripped points for an extra player had been awarded to Penrith, so I don't see how Parra deserve it.
And Manly should definately have the 2007 GF added.

The thing about this is I'm worried half the comp is over the cap. Let's face it it wouldn't be hard to do.

Well if thats the case the eels would have finished on 29 points with a +3 PD

Penrith would have finished with 29 with a -74 PD also the storm would have been gone leaving them in 7th and 8th...

They were disqualified with the result being null and void. Decision has been made get over it.

Now working on logic IF the storm were found out before the finals last year Wests Tigers finish 8th. Based on logic parramatta are the first team knocked out because 2 beat 7 but wests tigers progress because 8 beat 1.

At the end of the day there are so many variables that no one can be classed as premiers because the season would have to be re played to get a true indication of who is the best team. And don't get me started by saying ohh but they hand gold medals to the 2nd place getter in the olympics and so forth because in my eyes that's just utter BS aswell.

Parra did everything asked of it, including beating the top 3 sides. Same with manly in 07. We both made it. Melbourne are being tripped the premierships, not their competition points. We f*cking deserve it.

When an Olympic gold medal is stripped, the gold is immediately awarded to the one who came second.

Right now 2007 and 2009 mean nothing. Recognise who wre the clubs that legitimately passed the hoops that no one else could legitimately.

Congrats Manly on winning 8 premierships. Eels fans now know that we have won 5.

Erm ... no you don't ... the only reason you got to the Grand Final, arguably, is that you played St George / Gold Coast / Canterbury to get there .. if you had played Melbourne in Week 1, you might have been eliminated then and it's all done and dusted.

Manly and Brisbane were eliminated by the Storm in Weeks 1 and 3 .... they didn't get the chance to play in the Grand Final because a cheating team beat them. So they didn't get the chance to "legitimately jump through the hoops" like Parra did.


Completely different to an Olympic 100m sprint, because the performance of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th etc is not influenced by the performance of 1st. They are racing against themselves in an attempt to get the fastest time they can.

In NRL, the performance of one team is directly influenced by the performance the other ... maybe if Brisbane had played in that GF instead of Melbourne, they would have beaten Parramatta by 50 .. we'll never know.

Cast your mind back to the great grandfinal between the raiders and the Tigers. The raiders were finned for being some 300 grand over the cap, that was big money back in those day. Basically they cheated, yet history tell us they won the comp and were a champion team. Asa tiger fan I would not want that cup because we did not win it but I dont think they should have it either

No, I don't think they would have .... but they were denied the fair right to try and do so ... that said, Parra didn't have a halfback either (lol).

But what's to say that had it been a Bris vs Parra GF, that Hayne wouldn't have gone off injured with a broken arm after 10 minutes, or that Moi Moi and Hindmarsh both had to be stretchered off after 20 minutes due to a sickening head clash in a tackle left both with fractured cheeks? ETC ETC.


No question that from their half of the draw, Parra got there ahead of St George, Gold Coast and Canterbury ... but they have no better claim to the 2009 Premiership than Manly and Brisbane as those two teams suffered the exact same fate as Parramatta did, essentially i.e. they lost to Melbourne in the week that they came up against them.

yeh but if melbourne hadnt have rorted the cap they may not have made the finals, there r so many different factors that come into it.

parra will be proud to have made the grand final on their own merits last year and as a supporter im still happy bout that ill get more satisfaction as a parra supporter that in round 13 parra will give it to the storm big time thats for sure and that will be better than any default premiership

yep history books will say melbourne stripped of the premiership and the history books will say manly and parra were the grand finalists, legitamit grand finalists and manly and parra should be proud of that, they didnt get there the same way melbourne did they did it on their own merits!

its done and dusted now there is no use whinging and fighting about it, there is still a whole season to be won and the teams r still in the running who deserve to be and melbourne isnt one of them!
