ok so yeh we have established parra and manly both had 2 premierships lost to cheaters, BUT in those years in 06 and 08 when brisbane and manly won how do we know melbourne didnt throw the games, i know its highly unlikely but still its a factor i mean they had the same key players who could possibly be in on it somehow (u never know).

im raising this point as its not only the losing grand finalists being ripped off but also the 2 winners as well, as i know if i were in a team that won against cheats who were found out that victory would seem pretty hollow when in actual fact u couldve beaten a team who rightfully deserved to be there instead of the storm....but its history now so lets get over this sh*t and just talk about the fact that melbourne have put a huge blight on the game and that the teams who made it to the GF without cheating made a tremendous effort just to get there and so too the teams who made the 8 those 5 years! not the storm

Why would they throw games? They rorted the cap, they weren't involved in anything such as illegal gambling/betting scenarios.

Anyway, Parra or Manly shouldn't be awarded the comp as the team that finished last was robbed just as much as they were. It's ok Eels fans, maybe your great, great, great grand children will see a Parra premiership.

What? If anything, it makes the Premiership victories of Brisbane and Manly that much more impressive. They both took on a team playing outside the rules and won.

As a side note (and I'm not sure if this has been raised in here) Fox Sports have a poll running about the fairness of the penalty against the Storm, with just under 3000 votes for the opinion that stripping the premierships was too harsh.

ok f*ckwits. This year the Storm will not win any points, but teams have to beat them to get theirs. Guess what - the storm will still field a salary cp smashing team. So no side who played them in the premiership rounds can claim a "what if". So no game from last year has it's result altered - except the GF, which has.

The "what if" argument askes "what if" the Storm were nder the cap. Clearly, results would be altered -notably te 2007 preliminary final, and the 2006 fourth qualifying final. But it's not a "what if" argument. It's simply an argument about a particular result tat has now been scrubbed. The choice simply is this - do we have a result for our GF - or a non event?

A nil result means you deny the season existed.

Parra are reigning premiers. End of story.

All the teams that have been knocked out by melbourne storm in the finals have been cheated, who is to say one of those teams wouldn't have gone onto win. Parramatta though are a different story. They finished 8th, and (like the Broncos) were eliminated by Melbourne. That is not enough to win the title. I think and i stated reasons on another thread, that the only option is to give the title to St George, who were the premiers, anyway (even including Melbourne).

What? No, the NRL got this part right. 2007 & 2009 are to be considered no result as no team was given a fair chance at winning the grand final.

To hand a team a premiership by default is akin to winning a grand final just by showing up. Thankfully it seems most here are not delluded twits like Misty and realise this.

Fact remains: in 07 & 09 Manly and Parramatta did not win premierships, its just that now that Melbourne have been caught cheating, neither did they.

I struggle to think of any team that would have beaten Manly in '08, but teams weren't given the opportunity.
