Does this make Parra the 2009 premiers???

So now it's a Parra bashing thread ffs!

Parra did everything asked of it, including beating the top 3 sides. Same with manly in 07. We both made it. Melbourne are being tripped the premierships, not their competition points. We f*cking deserve it.

When an Olympic gold medal is stripped, the gold is immediately awarded to the one who came second.

Right now 2007 and 2009 mean nothing. Recognise who wre the clubs that legitimately passed the hoops that no one else could legitimately.

Congrats Manly on winning 8 premierships. Eels fans now know that we have won 5.

 Bloody idiot!

We should get the 2009 premiership. If they were docked points then, we finish 8th. We have a 100% record in finals series, so we continue that and win the comp.
Fair enough, it's as good an idea as any other.

The thing is that no team is going to be awarded the premiership for 2009. Oh wait..... I guess it defaults to the dragons as they are the only team with silverware from last year. End of argument. :D (No team as silverware from 2007) :D

The Knights were the last Team to beat the Storm in 2009 so we are now the 2009 premiers! Wooo hooooooooooooooo!

Actually no, Manly were the last side to beat the Storm in 2009 but that rule doesn't apply to them.

What a simpleton view.

Three teams were knocked out by Melbourne in the finals last year. They were all unfairly eliminated. Just because Parra faced them last doesn't mean you're any more deserving of the premiership than them.

If the Storm weren't there Manly or Brisbane could have made the grand-final and kicked your arse.

When an Olympic gold medal is stripped, the gold is immediately awarded to the one who came second.

How can you not grasp the difference between the two....

Right now 2007 and 2009 mean nothing. Recognise who wre the clubs that legitimately passed the hoops that no one else could legitimately.

You failed at the exact same hoop as Manly and the Broncos. None of you could beat the Storm.

Manly aren't the reigning premiers, there is no reigning premier with Melbourne stripped. The term reigning refers to the previous premier, and there is no previous premier, so there is no "reign". Regardless of the current state of affairs, Manly's "reign" finished when the 2009 Grand Final concluded.

While Melbourne are struck of the records as Premiers for 2007 and 2009 I doubt any Manly or Parramatta fans will want to claim the respective Premierships it would seem a bit hollow

So interesting to see all the Parra fans clutching at this, they need it!!

Eels don't need it you c**k-gobbler, the eels deserved it. How can you tell me all those consecutive wins and the top form of the eels in 2009 didn't project them from the bottom of the table to the top taking out just about every team in the nrl. They came from nothing, and managed to only just loose to a bunch of cheaters in the finals. Therefore eels should be premiers. You can spit out those sour grapes you've been chewing on since your team was knocked out of the 09 finals ;-)

Why would you's want to be named 'Premiers by default' anyway? Like f**k me dead, it isn't something to be proud about, you lost the grand final therefore your not the premiers. Get over it.

And Manly and Brisbane both did better than the Eels during the season only to be knocked out by the same cheaters in the finals you f**king moron.

In fact three teams were illegitimately knocked out by the Storm last year. And because the Eagles finished the highest on the ladder out of those teams and thus were the best of them throughout the year, they have more right to be crowned premiers than you.

(As pointed out by some dude on the radio)
Parra wouldn't have made the finals last year if the Bulldogs two stripped points for an extra player had been awarded to Penrith, so I don't see how Parra deserve it.
And Manly should definately have the 2007 GF added.

The thing about this is I'm worried half the comp is over the cap. Let's face it it wouldn't be hard to do.

I agree. I see the same signs at a few clubs. Manly, Roosters and Titans to be specific. All seem to be able to afford anyone they want, whenever they want them....then you position them against sides like Brisbane and Newcastle, who are supposedly at their cap or very close and they cant do anything with that money. I am very concerned that this isnt the last of this, as is the norm these days - once something happens the sh*t starts getting thrown left and right...be sure that there will be more than one whistle blower looking to get some pay back or make a name for themselves. Imo, the GC will be the next to go.

The fact is the last 5 years (for all we know it's only 5 years) finals series are now tainted.
All the teams that finished 9th (ROO, NQC, WST, NEW, WST) now know they should have had a shot at the finals. What would have happened we will never, ever know.

But first a big bag of kudos to Wests, Brisbane and Manly for winning in those years.

And a bigger bag of shame to you @rsehole scumbags from olympic park. You owe us all 5 finals series.
Your selfishness has done it's best to ruin the game for all of us.

Agree 100%, ask Hindy or Cayless if they consider themselves the 09 premiers now. No one wants to win a premiership like that.

You sure 05 is included in the 5 years? If this is the 5th year wouldn't 06 be the first?

Well the Scott Prince ordeal now becomes even more suss.

Melbourne has always justified being able to keep all those stars who could earn more elsewhere at other clubs because the players were "willing to take unders" to play for them for other reasons, in this case because they wanted to remain part of such a good side. Apparently the ideal that players are willing to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of dollars a year because of something else the club offers is a sham. Money talks.

A different club who has been using this cliche lately sprung to my mind more than the ones you mentioned, but obviously I don't know the full details so would rather not speculate.

Don't think any Manly fan would really want the 2007 title. At least the Roosters got to win a Grand Final in 2002!

It might be a different story if we hadn't have won 2008. I suppose alot of people at the Eels have been waiting a long time.
