Yep, simulate the entire game by pressing X (Xbox/PC) before going into the game. Otherwise, it's the 3rd option down in the in game menu.

What I meant though, is you should be able to opt out of certain formats. I don't want to play any T20 at all and can't really focus on the 50 over games.

So, as I mentioned, I'm a number 4 leg-spinning all-rounder.

I'm NSW's leading runs scorer and wicket taker in both the one day and four day formats.

Now I get to the four day final against Tasmania, and I never get a bowl.

Consequently, Tasmania get to 500+ in their first dig, and by the time I come to bat, we are usually 2 down for 30-odd.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Frankly, I enjoy bowling more than batting, and I'd assume that, practically being the second coming of Warne, that I'd get a bowl!

It is very hard to win with NSW in shield, the squad in the game is very poor, the tail bats better than the top order. I found for NSW to win shield, I need to do all the heavy lifting, score plenty of runs, get partnerships, get wickets. Gets easier when captain, rotate you bowlers, make the effort to set and change fields. Tinker with the batting order.

It's exactly what's happened - I scored all the runs and took the key wickets.

Now my reward is to sit out our first fielding innings? What!?!?

It's weird.

Persist until made captain, you get an achievement and lots of EXP points.

Still hard to win shield, win the One Day and 20/20, this helps make you captain quicker.

I suppose if I'm inexplicably not going to get a bowl, then the best I can do is to win the match for NSW with the bat.

It's just frustrating that I don't get a bowl, when I'm NSW's best.

I just cannot understand why the captain doesn't give me a bowl - I've been NSW's best throughout the season.

It's really frustrating - I have won NSW games with both bat and ball, but nooooooo - let's not bowl our leg-spinning weapon...

are you a batsmen, an all-rounder or a bowler?

Depending on which one of those your player is, dictates how much bowling you get

I'm an all-rounder.

In Tasmania's first innings, they belted 620/7 and declared, off 160 overs, and I didn't bowl one ball.

But in other four day matches, I usually trot up around the 20 over mark.

It's bizarre.

I finally got the call up to move from NSW to county cricket and chose Warwickshire.

Hit a couple of 50's in my first game and have gone on to get 2 or 3 hundreds in 5 or 6 games and got a massive 234 in a second innings dig (after getting 20 odd in the first) to set a huge chase that they couldn't manage.

My average is steadily creeping back up towards 50, sitting at about 44 right now.

My last season with NSW I played only FC cricket and the BBL. I simmed all of the one dayers. What I didn't realise was that if you SIM the game, you don't get picked for the team, so there IS the option of playing on certain forms of the game and disregarding others. My selection status now has me getting attention for the AUS test team, but not even being looked at for the limited overs forms (my T20 is horrendous haha). This makes me happy, as it's what I wanted to focus on.

Well, I found the answer:

It seems if you set your Career player to a batting all-rounder, and do well with the bat, the CPU decides not to waste your energy bowling.

Time to start a new career as a bowling all-rounder, I think...

I still can't get this to work. I'm back playing P40 English games :( Whenever I choose simulate on the game screen it still simulates up to career player. Also I can't figure out the X button thing. I press it before the game and it shows me competition stats, I press it as I go into the game and nothing happens.

Made the Aussie test side at 21 opening with Chris Rogers with Alex Doolan at 3. Seems like a f**king lifetime ago tbh, but played my first match against Pakistan and am averaging 35 from only 2 innings.

I was going to say that the ridiculous scores still kill me, but I didnt really notice it in the English County season and 550 declared by Pakistan in Pakistan (or wherever they play for home games in DBC) doesn't seem too far fetched.

You need to press simulate before going into the match. From the page where you can see your player's face.

If you do it that way (sim before going into the match) I think it just doesn't put you in the match at all, so your average doesn't change or anything and it doesn't actually simulate your player's innings/score. I think that's right anyway, I only worked out how to Sim yesterday so haven't looked into it too much

^ yep, thats correct. If you SIM it takes you out of the match completely.

PWA got his fixed yesterday. Had to update his game for it to show up.

Finding this out has massively increased the longevity of this game, was getting so sick of playing shield game. The seasons are way too long. And it's good simming games doesn't "soil" your averages with fake scores.

Does anyway know, if you get selected in the Aus team for T20/ODI/Tests, do you need to keep playing domestically to stay in the team or are you just in it for good once you make it?
