No, get it right, they were at a hospitality expo. Poker machine etc

And it is the point since someone in the previous post suggested someone was deprived of a handicapped spot.

Apologies, the side bar cut off the last few letters so I can only see "hospital".

What you're arguing is pointless. Surely you can see that.

I wasnt arguing it. I was adding a point (from somewhat of a humorous angle) to the subject.

But I guess that subtely was lost on you a bit eh.

You're missing a question mark on the end of that statement. And the correct spelling is "subtlety".

he wasn't watering shrubbery

it was a bar window

the same player was caught speeding in a school zone only last month http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,23291425-661,00.html

League players staying out late gets bigger headlines than both these incidents

yeah but when league players stay out late it includes gun shots going off, i don't see any mention of school kids shooting at the afl guy in that article.

that's happened once

there was a big fuss the other week because Parramatta players were at a bar at 4am. they did nothing wrong and were rightly not punished for it

didn't stop the media going apesh*t

these AFL abimals get away with a lot and the media ignore it

From this i assume you live in a RL state. The reporting of these incidents were the complete opposite in Melbourne.

i base it off how it's reported on the web and news that is shown nationally eg Sky News, Nightline, Ten News late and Sports Tonight

league is bashed from pillar to post for nothing incidents. when you read of some AFL clown mucking up it rarely if ever gets a mention

EXACTLY! Some people around here seem to think there is some sort of conspiracy theory going around about NRL and AFL.

In other states Woolford and Ryles don't make the bloody newspaper, but here they do.

In Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth etc, all these AFL boofheads are in the newspaper for their indiscretions.

Its all relative to the amount of interest in the respective codes in any given state.

That's merely your opinion, and if you spent some time in Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth, you'd see you are way off.

I did read your post, and I cannot believe you can sit there and say it and really believe its true.

Ben Cousins and Wayne Carey ( AFL players in case you are unsure ), are two of the most lambasted sportsman that I can ever recall on television, on radio or in newspapers.

Plenty of times earlier in their career, they have done small things wrong thats been blown up way out of proportion all over the media just like this has today with the Dragons - and in more recent times they have featured even more heavily when their indiscretions became criminal charges.

Gary Ablett was always in the media spotlight when he was playing for some of the stupid things he did off the field.

What about Collingwoods Didak ( cant remember the blokes first name ) - linked to some shooting just because he was in a blokes car who was some criminal or something. I mean he copped a caning in the media. How many times have we seen Eddie Maguire get on the television defending Collingwood players off field indiscretions? I've lost count

I mean I don't even follow AFL, I can't really stand the game - but I can accept when they have copped it in the media.

What about the situation with the Sydney Swans where 3 players ( including Gary Jacks son Keiran ) had bloody $10 bets on themselves to win a game of AFL.

If you can't recall the major hullabaloo in the media about that situation, then you must have a short memory.

$10 bloody bets of all things that turned into a massive media issue! 10 bloody dollars.

Anyone is naive if they think NRL players don't bet on the games, I've done it myself for a player - and it was a hell of a lot more than a $10 bet!

I mean come on El Diablo, lets lose the chip that resides on your shoulder about some conspiracy theory that the NRL is mistreated by the media.

It might be possible because you don't follow the AFL code that alot of the media attention they get for minor things is lost on you?! I don't really know...

I mean thats just some off the top of my head.

I am sure there's plenty of Melbourne based fans that can bring up a few additional media sagas if you want further evidence that your theory is pretty bloody flawed!
Neither code deserves much of the media glare they get - but crying poor about Rugby League - this woe is me, poor us stuff wears a bit thin.
In the end mate, if Ryles and Woolford didn't park in the bloody disabled spot - we wouldn't be talking about this right now. I mean sometimes someone has to take some goddamn resposnbility for themselves instead of blaming everyone else but themselves.

i suggest you re-read my post again

Carey and Cousins were reported on nationally on news bulletins. most other incidents were ignored

the same can't be said for every league incident

i've sat at home on certain days with the TV on Sky News and if a league player has mucked up i hear it every hour

other days you find an AFL incident tucked away on the web somewhere that is pretty much the same and it won't get a mention all day

reporting on league in general is pretty sh*thouse on national news bulletins. last week i was watching 9's National 4:30pm news and the nuffy reading the sport had two goes at pronouncing Danny Buderus's name and got it wrong both times

it was embarrassing to watch

I disagree about the national coverage mate.

See my previous post - fire up the search engine.

I mean I don't follow AFL, live in NSW, and have heard all about Didak, Daniel Kerr, Chris Tarrant, the AFL sexual assaults, Brendan Favola... none of them are even based in NSW. The Sydney Swans stuff was major news.

I am not an AFL fan and heard all about this crap too?

Maybe you should stop watching Sky News because I've never watched Sky News on Foxtel and still heard about all of the above - and follow the AFL I definitely do not.

Sometimes I think there is a tendency to look for something that might not even really exist.

There is no rugby league identity that can even compare to the media Cousins and Carey got nationally and why should they be disregarded like their situations shouldn't count? They weren't always doing criminal charge type of stuff to make a headline. I remember when Carey slept with his team mates wife

so those stories should've beeen big

it's the ones that aren't so big involving AFL players that are largely ignored by the media. the same media are all over league for nothing incidents

and no Swans news has ecer been major
