Even though you're supporting my side of the argument, plagiarism is a serious crime, even if this is just an internet forum, that's someone elses words you're passing off as your own.

No. St George red is the red off the Union Jack.

Illawarra Scarlet is the colour of the Illawarra Flame Tree.

Another post that proves this debate is not open or relevant to those who are unqualified and who have no ultimate investment in our team/s.

Because it's another team's jersey. Dragons, not Steelers, Steelers are gone.

And St.George are gone. Both are partners in this new JV team.

It's St.George Illawarra, as I noticed someone was saying earlier.

Therefore it would make perfect sense if the main jersey (worn majority of the time) like the old St.George jumper, with the alternate (2nd jumper) in the design of the old Steelers one.

Then it truely would be "St.George Illawarra"

And I tell you what... I don't care if it's officially red instead of scarlet, call it a red and white jumper (scarlet is a shade of red anyway).

It's a Joint Venture. Illawarra and St.George are the two stakeholders in the new club.

Deal with it. Even ask the club.

Look, I'm not from St George, but I've always gone for the Dragons. So when the merger happened, I dealt with it. But that was because they remained the Dragons. If they had become the Steelers, I would have ceased supporting them. I don't personally want to see the dragons run around in another team's, any teams, jersey. That includes the Steelers.
I can empathise with your loss, but blame the Illawarra administration for sacrificing your team's identity, don't expect us to support the further dilution of ours.

Im actually appauled at the lack of respect shown to the illawarra side of the venture. Wow, the socks resemble the steelers, yay!! To me as a nuetral looking in from day one the steelers have been neglected in the JV. Quite ironic too when you consider nearly all of Saints best players are Illawarra products, its insulting actually at the lack of exposure the steelers get.

That's because the Steelers are no more. Illawarra RLFC went into the deal well aware their jersey would be scrapped. Now some people want it back. Whether it happens or not will unfortunately have nothing to do with what Dragons fans want.
Wests Tigers merger was between to old and respected clubs with generations of fans that had to be appeased. The two clubs had to be represented in the name and jersey. This wasn't the case with St George Illawarra, it was obvious from the start that they would not compromise the recognition of the St George jersey and logo for a team that hadn't existed for twenty years, and a name not synomous with success.
Yes Saints hadn't won a GF since before the Steelers were introduced, but they were and always be a prestigious club because of the "St George Era". Illawarra had a history of greats, but most of them were associated with other clubs; Langlands, Cronin, Fulton. It's history as a NSWRL, & ARL team was one of potential, never success.
I just hope that the administration don't think Stanley Steeler day is an indication of what the Illawarra will do to follow the team if the Steeler strip is our away, the interest will wane swiftly once the novelty wears off.

As an outsider I think the Steelers' jersey should be the alternate.

Like the Illawarra Steelers, St George Dragons are no more.

The team is required to have an alternate strip so why not use the Red V for home games and the Scarlett jersey when it's required.

What the team wears doesn't change the fact they are the Dragons.

This is the problem when the debate brings in those with limited knowledge.
The main points of the JV agreement were clear...
1.) The team: the St George Illawarra Dragons (not the St George Illawarra Dragons Steelers).
2.) The home ground: 50/50 split Kogarah & Wollongong (Kogarah still getting short changed here).
3.) The jersey: Red V.

BOTH sides AGREED to this. This is the true Joint Venture agreement.

SPOT ON - The away jersey HAS TO BE the Illawarra one- ther should be no debate-they deserve a bigger exposure on the main jersey, but understandingly the red v will always be the main jersey, but the altenate ones wore by the club in the past are ridiculous and give no credit to Illawarra- which has to be their alternate strip.
This is fair and reasonable especially when it will only be used 3 or 4 times per year, if that.
