My understanding is you're not allowed to heavily back end contracts anymore, can only be a certain %, so you won't see an Eastwood situation 1 year $200k following year $800k that won't be allowed anymore..

All good, mate.
I'm not up to speed with what is allowed now. Nothing would surprise me though.
Each year, teams are caught cheating the cap so they still do things they shouldn't.
Parra are getting a 4 million war chest so my first thoughts were......

Yes, at the start of season, Holmes had numerous question marks next to his name in regards to fullback and was even moved to the wing at one stage. He then finished the season in fine form at fullback.

Dufty is in a similar boat. I do hope that we hold onto Dufty and give him another season to develop.

You really can't compare Holmes and Dufty, Dufty is still trying to be at first grade standard and Holmes is an SOO player. Also Holmes has a genuine first grade coach whereas Dufty has Mary.

Expect Millward to repudiate that Saints contacted Hayne, although “the club is always interested in quality players and will continue to monitor the market”.

He is just as bad as Mullholland.

Millward is a dope; couldn't negotiate a difficult deal if his life depended on it. Always players at a bargain price who want to play first grade or as with Hunt, pays overs.

Watch Bennett bring in the bacon with a really strong roster.

Sign Hayne on a 1 year deal at 600k with an option in the club's favour for a further 2 years at 700k.

Right price for 2019 and only if he performs does the club take up the option. Remember 11 players coming off contract in 2019.

Hang on Possm...

So you're giving it to Millward about being a dope, but your plan is to offer Hayne overs for next year, with an option to re-sign him for a BIGGER contract when he's older (32 and 33) in 2020 and 2021.

Wat.

I don't consider 600k overs for Hayne. Fit and ready to go, he could very well help us win a competition; especially if he's playing fullback with Lomax and Mann in the centres. It gives us a very good backline in defence and attack.
