Forget the Arther rumour as i have stated before unless there is some major break down in current negotiations Tim Sheens will b the dragons head coach for 2014

I've heard that Steve Price will be offered a contract extension after Tuesday night's board meeting.

Your reputation is now on the line. We are SICK of heresay and unfounded rumours that litter this forum. I haven't heard of Sheens signing with the Dragons and you seem to be pretty sure of it. Hmmmmm.

The only certainty in all this is that the Board is meeting on Tuesday night and that the future of the dragons coaching position will among the top priorities for discussion. Hopefully by Wednesday, we have a bit of news. This could make or break our performance in the ANZAC Day clash...

Price sounds likes hes already out.. though I am also surprised they would look at someone new like Arthur who ive frankly never heard of.

The link with Widdup seems a bit abstract at best, conceivably it was related to Widdup's signup with us, but hes probably had dozens of coaches in his time.

its the classic who came first - the chicken or the egg scenario..

did Widdop sign based on the fact Arthur will be coach?
or are the media clutching at straws linking Arthur to the club because of the Widdop signing and their relationship......

So what happens if they do re-sign Price for a further 2 years on Tuesday and then we lose our next 3 games?

The pressure is then back on Price, Doust and the board.

Why don't they wait a few more weeks? Sheens isn't going anywhere and the other rookie coaches being shortlisted for the job aren't going anywhere either.

I'd make a decision after round 10.

As I stated on this forum that widdop was close to signing with the dragons a day before it went public I also stated at the same time that the dragons were in deep negotiations with Sheens. My source was correct with the widdop information and i have no reason to doubt him when it comes to Sheens. Choose to believe what u like.

If they don't sign Price then the rest of you first question is N/A.

The main reason they won't wait is probably because Price has already learned he will not be the coach next year.

My guess is that the board will be considering some terms that Sheens has insisted on and maybe the structure of football management within the Club e.g. the appointment of a football manager like seen in other clubs.

The urgency of an announcement is more to do with recruitment.

Interested in knowing why you guys believe that Sheens would be a poor choice ?Is he past it, not up to it or are there better options ?

had a star studded line up on friday night, and in the first half in particular, he seem to struggle for ideas, the kiwi's had 4 or 5 decnt players out, could mke the next game interesting if n.z are at full stregth.

Price is an excellent coach ask Samoa? Charlie Tonga put faith in a young halves pairing who have never played NRL whilst Price had a team full of players with NRL experience to guide them to their first loss since 2006 against Tonga. Putting a forward out of position at 5/8 to partner the rubbish player Ben Roberts. Cause he has no faith in any juniors until he is forced to play them that is.

Half time chat looked good. All I saw was Price standing and Asotasi doing all the talking. Price has nothing. Did his post match comments include "Samoa lost but the effort was there" and "they only failed in their execution" and "there were some lapses that cost them the game".

Any some people honestly think Price should be re-signed. I just can't understand this? Where they sleeping throgh the whole of the 2012 season?

Kearney had a NZ team up against a star studded AUS team and still made it some contest especially with the disallowed tries. He even makes Price look bad.

Ben Roberts is the worst player I have ever seen, to put it kindly
How bad are you going when you have to pick Ben Roberts to play for your national team!
Surely there has to be some other player in the world they could have picked instead of this bloke.
I honestly can't work out how he is still playing first grade Nrl?

The better option is Price! Sheens offers very little - he won a premiership on the back of some luck and brilliance by Benji Marshall and Scott Prince, and other than that hasnt done anything since the 90s! His team selections the last few yaers have been horrible (re-signing Toquiri, losing Gibbs/Fifita, Marshall at halfback, Gidley/Farah in the Aus. team, signing of Blair, I could go on...)...his record as Australian coach show as much credential as Mal's record with QLD (i.e. the team that coaches themselves)...he doesn't have the 'pulling power' that people refer to (notice how Slater, Smith, Cronk, Thurston, Inglis never joined the Tigers?!)...his attacking plan of the last decade relied on off-the-cuff play following Farah and Marshall, which led the Tigers to be known as the entertaining softies, and his defensive plan is non-existant..he is NOT the answer to the dragons coaching issues!

Personally, I see this as a "re-building" period.

We were lucky when we got a new coach in Wayne Bennett and he got us firing from Round 1 2009 v Melbourne Storm (lot's of things helped us, i.e., having a great team, Brown not leaving the place a mess, a hungry / talented squad).

For me, it doesn't matter if Sheens is a decent coach or not (I think Price is better anyway).

The main reason the club should persevere with Price is because he has his "systems" and "structures" in place, and the "re-build" appears to be heading in the right direction (i.e., winning games, key signings, players leaving / retiring).

I just don't see the benefit of bringing in a new coach, who will bring new staff, systems, structures, beliefs, training methods, etc.

It will turn the place on it's head and put the "re-build" back further.

We don't have the coach or the squad to make the transition we did from 2008-to-2009.

Price must be allowed to build.

Welcome to the Forums old mate, that's just my two Bob.
