Souths and always has been Souths for me. As a Tigers fan we hated them since 1909 and I remember cheering loudly in the car when they were kicked out and nothing since has made me think they should be in the comp. They have tried to cheat the salary cap, they always had players who gave the game a bad image , always been a badly run club in a professional era , talked about how souths are all about building a team and now all they do is buy players , at least the roosters have been honest about having no juniors and buying players and being pretty boys Souths try for being battlers and now they are the new rich they think its ok. All the crap about the pride of the league makes me sick and they are South sydney but play in West Sydney WTF - I wish they had never been let back in I would rather keep a broke Sharks then Souths

Boo f**king hoo. Waaah waaah waaah.

:? if we were that good wouldn't we be more boastful?

Being favoured isn't the same as being good. Though some Broncos fans still brag like it's something to be proud of.

When the Broncos created SuperLeague, one of their conditions for allowing reunification was a 5 year monopoly on SE QLD.

Everyone involved with the club are still the only people opposed to another team in Brisbane because they know it will end their gravy train.

The introduction of the Titans has gone a long way toward bringing the Broncos back to the field - like missing the finals once in 20 years.

And every day I hope that the 2011 GF is Souths v Roosters. So we can flatten little brother yet again.

You know you blokes have only been premiers 3 times in the last 65 years and once in the last 35. Not much better than our drought.

And don’t forget the multiple GF appearances (as painful as they were) and the regular finals appearances.

I don’t think they will meet in the GF but I have a feeling they will meet in a finals match this year so you may get your wish.

In the last couple of years the roosters have experienced the same slide in the hate ratings as the bulldogs. I remember when they were basically the only two teams that were hated; nowadays it seems to centre on the Storm and Manly more than any other club.

Everyone feels sorry for the Roosters because the poor bastards made a GF and then realised - to their horror, that their coach was Brian Smith.

You do know that Penrith forced them out?

I hate neither club.

I reckon though Saints would have that title. The animosity toward them after they won the comp has been astounding.

It's absolutely hilarious, just the same pathetic little group of nuffies that cry themselves to sleep every night about it. How sweet it is.

Ha! Here's the team I hate. f**king Melbourne.

During their reign of bullsh*t they knocked us out of the finals in '06, '07 and '09. We were genuine contenders in '07 and grand finalists in '09.

They are the only team to have beaten Parra in the finals since 2005. They were rorting the salary cap the entire time.

I hate them til I die.

This.

It may have been boring for other fans but ask a saints fan, every game has been a nervous roll of the dice since Brown was coach. We wanted consistency, Wayne brought it in spades and in the modern game proved that it still works. But if you have a chance id urge you to go to youtube and watch all our tries for the year, they are pretty damn creative/well executed

I am excited at the prospect of us playing a more expansive style this year with the pressure off, but then Bennett hasn't mentioned anything of the sort and may just go with what works for us.

Anyway, back on topic. If Souths are doing well, it means 15 other teams aren't doing their job :p

Exactly, nothing wrong with our attack and I always laugh when fans of nuffy, unsuccessful sides (eg Bunniesman) try and call it "boring." Just sour grapes, I'll gladly take a 32-8 result and easily one of the ebst backlines in the comp, if not the best.

As for the original post.. Melbourne are easily my most hated side. Arrogant cheaters with an overrated coach who has yet to apologise for this debacle.

People hate the roosters because of our method of scouting talent from other clubs and, ultimately, because we are successful.

People hate Souffs because they go on constantly about the sun shining out of their arse and talking up success which never comes.

i have a passion for only Souths.
i am happy when we beat any other team and have no second favourites.
As for Roosters , who cares , a few supporters and come lately when they are doing well , they will merge or disappear.
As for Souths , appears they are building base for a new golden era and the real question should be how many people actually support Souths.
All other supporters will want Souths to lose , why , because we are gonna take what the best teams have and be the pride of league again. if you do not like that , I DO NOT CARE.

I personally don't hate the Souths club. I thought them being thrown out of the comp was disgraceful and am glad they got back in. But when I read comments like the above from Souths fans with a huge chip on their shoulder, I sometimes think I wish they didn't get back in! I know a lot of Roosters fans who marched down George Street for Souths reinstatement. Many Souths fans forget that too quickly.

Going back a century, Souths double-cross of Balmain, in claiming the 1909 premiership is as disgusting as the Storm's claims of recent years. Agreeing with Balmain not to play the match and then turning up and claiming the title still stinks at Leichhardt. If Souths had any decency, they would rewrite their history books, stating correctly they have only 19 premierships.

Roosters, but I am a Bunnies fan. I long for the day my football team does it talking on field much like every other NRL side. I have no idea why a Souths fan could be cocky, as it is a humbling experience to go the entire 90's and then 00's without a winning season minus the two years we were kicked out.

I not proud of the circus that Souths have become but what can you do about it? I'm hoping the pageantry will settle down at Souths and the business of winning games will begin. I hate hearing crap about winning 21 when our last finals victory was minor prelim final aginst Balmain 23 years, 4 months, 12 days ago not that i'm counting. Every fan is different.

How old are you? 120? Let me guess you don't buy Japanese or German stuff because of what they did in World War 2 as well. How long can you hold on to your grudge? You don't think Souths ever got diddled in a GF then you know nothing of the history of the game. We don't go moaning over it.

As for the Souths hate. Where was the hate when Inglis was going to Brisbane? Nothing about him being fat or how they can afford him as well as making Brisbane almost unbeatable for next year but when he signs with Souths the sh*t hits the fan. Since our last grand final we've lost nearly a full first grade roster 3 times - 1973, 1991, 1999 and hardly signed a decent representative in that time as opposed to Broncos, Bulldogs and the Roosters. As for our fans - how many fans would the Broncos have if they had 1 semi final win in 40 years or any other team for that matter. Our fans live in hope ever year which might be why some of us are deluded. Souths unjust expulsion and the court action where nearly every club was against Souths readmission has helped ingrain an attitude of us against everyone else in the NRL. For me the saddest days has been to say goodbye to traditional rivals Newtown, Norths, Wests, Balmain. We lost a lot of history with these clubs. But if you're threatened by Souths existence and our lack of success on the field then keep storing that hate.

You f**ken ignorant moron. Learn some history before you talk about history. We did not double-cross Balmain. Balmain were trying to double cross the entire comp. They were trying to do a super league 90 years before Rupert thought it up.

To compare it to the storm, that's what is disgusting. Especially because what we did helped Easts.

Balmain had a huge chip on their shoulder and got it in their heads that the NSWRL was biased towards Souths AND Easts. They wanted to bankrupt the NSWRL and set up their own league where they ran the show. That's why they didn't show up to the GF, which regardless of the circumstances is unaustralian.

Imagine if they got their way, and rugby league in sydney descended into infighting and civil war before it barely got off the ground. We barely survived it in the 90s, I don't think we'd have survived it in 1909. It's not too much to suggest rugby league wouldn't have made it to the modern era and it would be Soccer, Union and AFL fighting it out over Sydney instead of rugby league owning the city.

I thought Balmain wanted to boycott the GF because it was going to be an under card to a Kangaroos vs Wallabies match.

You are correct, even souffs and all history books acknowledge this.

I'm pretty sure bunniesman just made that whole post up, that or all the metho he has been drinking has started to take effect.

That was their public excuse but it wasn't true. As if you'd go to the extreme of a boycott over scheduling disagreements.

But under the rules back then, Balmain had to beat us twice in a row to be premiers, they knew they couldn't do it. So they tried to do a little bit of revolution. They thought the system was rigged against them and in favour of Souths and Easts which was bullsh*t.

Althought if I had my way Wests, Balmain and Norths would be back, I think in a way it's fitting that Balmain doesn't exist anymore and Souths and Easts are the only foundation clubs that have managed to survive.

From rl1908.com (IMO the best source of RL history on the internet)
Behind the scenes a North Sydney official, Alexander Knox, was cajoling the Balmain club to go ahead with their boycott. Knox, along with many others at Norths and Balmain, and probably Newtown and Wests too, felt that Souths, as well as Easts, had too much influence over the running of the NSWRL and the selection of Kangaroos teams.

Balmain’s actions in picketing the ground and refusing to play were aimed at ensuring Smith’s debt could not be repaid, forcing the NSWRL into a public scandal that would see it collapse, and be replaced by a new body where Souths and Easts had less influence.

This is the type of dribble that can ignite a Souths fan.
Interesting amount of time fans like Tonearm spend putting boot into Souths versus spending time on their own team.
As a passionate Souths fans , i will periodically respond to such stupid comments.however i do not go trolling looking for stories about other teams and then putting the boot in.

appears some facts
1)Souths sell newspapers.
2) Souths interest most fans (whether they want to ridicule or not).
3) Souths fans are always incredible optimistic at the start of a new year. Perhaps Naively so , however our TOTAL history supports the view of success , so requires the team to be pounded and clearly out of finals before the Souths fan admits defeat. what is wrong with not admitting defeat until there is no hope .
4)Souths performance has been poor in the view of Souths fans over the last 20 years . Just look at the number of coach changes. So anyone stating that Souths fans are happy with 9th , well they are more than stupid and i feel sorry for them , Tonearm.
5) As for "chips on shoulders" i believe most other fans who like to ridicule Souths and their fans , have the chips on their shoulders. Why would someone be bothered about stating that I do not care what other teams fans think. For NRL to succeed , Tribal passion , is the essence of NRL.Take that away and i happy to follow "soccer" , the only real international game .
