Everyone needs to get off this kids back. He was great yesterday. Mary had a game plan and injuries cost the dragons. We need to extend dufty's contract soon so the loser supporters don't scare him away. He will play origin soon.
Wake up, wake up....it’s a dream
Dufty in the real world is close to becoming a one hit wonder.
And that means back to the real world Matt.

You choose.

Regardless of where it was said and to whom, it was still said.
Dufty is not the only one saying it at the moment, Graham told fans to F off, Mary was less than fulsome in his response to the same question.

You know who dosnt get booed?
Teams that win.
Players that score tries.
Players that make match winning tackles.

You know who deserves to get booed?
Teams that lose 38-0 and 40-4 to bottom ranked teams.
Teams that get flogged in thier last home game of the year when honouring a retiring club legend and a fallen comrade.
Teams that need to beat a club in absolute crisis to get a second chance in the finals and get flogged.

Cop it on the chin and move on with the thought that you Proberbly deserved it.

And before the everyone get all hissy, this is not an attack on Dufty, as I've said before he could be a fantastic player if he and the team as a whole was coached properly.
The players should be all over the press and social media begging for forgiveness.
They should be sucking up to our supporters.
The fact they aren’t they can eat shit for all I care.
Wankers.

Good lord. 2016 it was “drop Dugan, bring in Dufty”

We do, and he has a blinder. He’s saved our bacon a number of times since then, but suddenly it’s “drop Dufty bring in Herbert”..

The kid is down on confidence, this happens. He’ll come good.

Hell, I recall Slater having a similar start to his career. If only the Storm had cut him loose like we want to do with Dufty..

BTW, where’s Marsters at? I thought he was the shiny new toy we all wanted to play with. Why is Herbert back to bring flavour of the month?
Sorry, this is first grade.
Perform every week or cop the criticism.
How many off days do we all have at work?
Maybe 3 a year?!
We work Five day weeks, he has one day week.

They earn 250k upwards for goodness sakes
Shape up, perform or ship out.
No need to defend poor performances.

Matt Dufty on abusive fans:

'Without being rude, they need to wake up to themselves... We've made the finals. Instead of throwing criticism they could show us some support. We try not to focus on external noise but it's hard not to when it's your own fans."

This is the problem .. “we’ve made the finals”... the low bar of mediocrity.. they needed to be drilled with a “foot on the throat” mentality early on in the season. Instead they all believed the world beaters ‘press’ and fell in hook line and sinker.

The fish rots from the head down .. and his ‘rot’ is the adopted mindset now... excuses, kick the tin down the road, always next week, someone else’s fault, tow the ‘company line’.

Given Dufty was ‘benched’ yesterday for reportedly an “attitude adjustment”... you would think he would have been ‘managed’ well enough to not comment on the ‘outside noise’

I guess to think anyone is actually managing anything in the place is actually wishful thinking...

Drain the swamp... if we miss this chance now to do so.. you may never get rid of the leeches.
Yep, drain the swamp today.
Attitudes like Duffy have screwed us well and good.
Damn arrogant loser.

Imagine storm players saying that shit?
Dead set, that does me, piss off Matt.

Fairy McGregor needs to go. Obviously there’s a number of quality coaches on the market at the moment. Coaches that have proven experience & they’ve won grand finals. They can’t just blame Ben Hunt, if your forwards aren’t doing their thing then how can you blame a halfback?

Moses was good but Noah was the best wet weather player. And he was Captain too!
I think our problems were nailed on Fox 360 tonight. Our training program and overall fitness program was questioned and said to be our main problem. We went hard early on and peeked early. I say:

  1. We flogged our forwards and had no plan to help them recover.
  2. Our game plan did not change and as a result our forwards fitness went into the negative zone.
  3. The performance of our ordinary backline relies heavily on our forwards dominating their opposition. Same for our halves and our fullback.
  4. I can tell you, when forwards are feeling the burn, there is nothing worse for them to see the pretty boys in the backline let the team down.
  5. But considering all, standards are set by the head coach and although Mary has quickly learned the spin speech of Peter Doust, even a not so clever person can see right though. He is a much lessor coach than Price and a lot more arrogant.

This thread sux.
Why anyone would hurl abuse at a football player as they walk up the tunnel after a heavy loss is appalling human behavior.
Nobody deserves that.

Bear in mind that was a really emotional game for many fans. Nighty's last game, Lance Thommo's memorial game, its no surprise to me if some fans let their emotions get the better of them.

And yes nobody deserves that when they have given their best. But the team did not give their best.

The quote was given to a journo who published it earlier in the replies on this page on this topic
Just to clarify... you haven't actually seen anything from Dufty. Just something on Twitter paraphrasing Dufty.... right?

So you don't play/give your best and you deserve to have abuse hurled at you?
Lets take Ben Hunt. He is in absolutely horrible form, not up to nrl level. He is having a shocker, its embarrassing. Does he deserve to be abused as he leaves the field? No he doesn't. He is still out there trying to win a game of football for the team.
I constantly scream abuse at Lafai from my couch but I would never say anything like that to his face.
Whats wrong with some people!?

Short answer is Mary should have had the guts to drop several backs and failed to do so well before the wheels fell off our billy cart.

The fan abuse venting their anger would have been better directed at Mary, as the players in question should have spent some time in ISP to regain their form. The players do not pick themselves.

Mary didn't give the ISP players the chance to seriously compete for spots during the season irrespective of how poorly various backs played..

There's nothing wrong with some people. It was an emotional day. Many, myself included expected the players would lift. They didn't. They sagged. It was a cringeworthy performance from a side about to play finals football. It should come as no surprise that some people let their emotions get the better of them. Do the players deserve to be abused? Probably not but what's the alternative? Everyone praises Ben Hunt for trying? Watch the game again Crush and tell me why that wasn't the most embarrassing performance you've seen from a first grade St George side.

You may be right about Mary but I still disagree that abuse should have been directed at anyone, even Mary.
If the players are trying to steal your car then abuse them. If Mary kicks your dog abuse him. But these guys are just 'attempting' the do their jobs, albeit very poorly. They don't deserve to have abuse screamed at them.
End of rant.

I don't need to watch the game again. It was the most embarrassing performance I have ever seen. I was so depressed afterwards I went straight to bed.
What's your point?
Because it was an embarrassing performance that we are entitled to abuse players and question their integrity?
Thats not how I live my life mate or how I raise my kids. Imagine all the children at that match watching adults abusing the players as they leave the ground. Their heroes getting screamed at.
Rubbish behavior at a sporting event in my opinion.

Crush, I am not saying that the abuse was acceptable.

Am merely saying I can understand and accept the frustration of the fans at the ground on a day that:

Flo is being farewelled for the last time at Kogarah

The club farewelled Lance Thompson

We were 4th and were playing for a top 4 spot

It was an emotion charged day

The team performance fell well below the expectation of our supporters and certainly well below the standard set by the coach and team at the beginning of the season
