Not necessarily. There used to be a thing called a Section 10 which a magistrate could hand down which basically is someone admitting guilt but there is no conviction recorded - usually in the case of someone offending for the first time on minor charges (affray, low range drink driving etc). Not sure if it's called something else now but yeah, a Section 10 used to be what it was referred to as
Section 10 still applies - Im just not sure it will be applied by the judge in this matter - depends on the level of offending admitted in the agreed facts.

I was also wary of mentioning Section 10 on here for fear of being called a "sex pest lawyer" yet again.

If all the above is true, it will be interesting to see Parra's angle on this.

I wonder if sacking him is an option on the table?
How can they sack Dyl after signing Au’va and what he did? Or Manu, or Wicks. I think the NRL will stand him down for the rest of the season and he’ll be fine to go next season.

I reckon it'll depend on the facts and how things went down, it might also depend on the young lady's position on events.

Personally I think we have to send a message here, but I don’t think it’s a sackable offence considering it’s the first time he’s been in trouble (that I know of, remembering the cubicle incident was not a criminal matter).

I think being stood down for the remainder of the season would be fair, he’s let down his club, teammates and the fans big time…. Let him stew on it and hopefully he comes back bigger and better in 2024

I think this has a big bearing on the outcome.

The amount of variables and factors to consider dont make this a straight forward decision.

Zane Musgrave was given 12 months good behaviour bond for the same ish offence (he successfully appealed which is irrelevant). The NRL refused to register his contract until his appeal was heard.

Dylan pleaded guilty - does that change anything ? Will he play again this year ?

========================

The court heard Musgrove, a former South Sydney NRL player, and Coleman, a former Penrith reserve grader, both groped the woman’s breasts while dancing on a night out.

CCTV vision was shown and the woman gave her account of the night.

Musgrove defended his actions, saying he believed the interaction was consensual.

When I kissed her I felt like she was kissing me back, she never said no or told me to stop kissing her, she didn’t say anything along those lines,” Musgrove said.

You are right - Dylan actually pleaded guilty.

And at a very early stage, so he will receive the full benefit of a 25% discounted sentence.

However, not sure it assists in terms of NRL processes...they seem to march to the beat of their own unpredictable and inconsistent drum on these issues.

Ok. So now there’s a bit of clarity. 3 charges dropped. Guilty of 2. The nrl should have a time frame of the suspension now. Regardless of what the courts rule. Let’s be honest here. He’s not going to jail, and he may not even have a conviction recorded.

It's all about the way they see the optics of it playing out, it has nothing to do with procedural fairness, the many examples of inconsistency belie that.
100% agree. PVL won't be consulting Catherine Lumby however.

The NRL’s longtime gender adviser, Prof Catharine Lumby, has expressed her disappointment at finding out she no longer has a role to play with the league – and concern that years of work is in danger of being undone under the ARLC’s new leadership.

Lumby, a professor at University of Sydney and workplace diversity consultant, responded after being labelled an “attention seeker” by Peter V’landys for criticising the league’s leadership after the latest sex-tape scandal to hit the game.

I reckon he'll be back for the finals. Then he'll go full Jarryd Hayne like 09 on the opposition.

As much as I hate to acknowledge it, JH in 2009 was sublime. I don't think many players could reproduce that sort of influence over results.

Morgan from the Cows came close. Maybe Cronk in the last year of his Roosters deal.
