Dylan Brown - charged sexual touching

if you had a public profile for your company and your sentencing and admission was publicly covered by the media and brought undue negativity to your employer - i reckon you would be.
I’ll raise you one better. I work with a client who’s employee who, not quite to Brown’s level but was getting close to, inappropriately touched one of our employees. Their employee doesn’t have the public profile of Brown but definitely has a presence in our wider industry, and they also are definitely an easier person to terminate for that client in terms of skills than Brown is for Eels.
He wasn’t sacked. Although it was a case of termination or retraining, he went through retraining, did extra counselling on his own time and was genuinely remorseful and even the person he offended is now ok working with him.
We didn’t demand he be fired and we have large but also replaceable dealings with this client.
You seem intent on throwing Brown out with the bath water. I don’t really care how much money someone is giving us, I’d ask them to trust us to deal with it appropriately.

Maybe. Maybe not.
I'm fence sitting on that one.
Think he needs time and water under the bridge to show it was a one off before he is the face of anything. The club won’t have him front and centre on anything for a long while

I didn’t say that. There are levels of sexual crime, none are acceptable. I also didn’t say he should never hold a job again
You said the NRL should deregister him for the duration of his contract? That’s effectively telling him he’ll never have the only job he’s ever performed ever again.

Pretty sure he can get another one. He’s led a privileged life and career thus far. Knocked him down a few pegs to see how real people have to work for what they have won’t hurt him. He does that for a year or two, undertakes alcohol management courses etc, he can then reapply for admission to the NRL

Not promotionally but if he’s genuinely remorseful then I’d be throwing him in front of every camera to apologise and try to help move any people who may idolise him away from also doing something dumb

Edit - I’ll add to that, if he isn’t genuinely remorseful, he can f**k off for many reasons

Yes, that will more than likely will be the case. Get him back on the field and fly under the radar, as abhorrent as that might sound.
The club, and Brown himself however could turn this whole appalling episode into a positive sometime down the track.

So the duration of his contract doesn’t include every optioned year?
And yes sports people do get privileges that is common people don’t but to assume they don’t have to work for what they have is plain wrong. And also is inferring that common people don’t do the same dumb shit.

He can play rugby. From 1 July, kiwis who have lived here for over 4 years can apply for citizenship

Eight weeks with time served would have him back playing within six
The convicted sexual touching groper deserves longer. Rest of the season. He obviously needs to go to AA.

As tended to the court. He consumed 15-20 drinks. He forgot what he actually did.

He has major issues. He needs to fix himself up. Comeback next year and prove that his apology isn’t just words. I’m over him no matter how good he is. Groping bastard.
