The make or break thing is our top players actually playing together.

Kikau and Blake played half a season together yet destroyed everyone. They'd be unstoppable if they got in a full pre-season and regular season together.

The point is, who ever we pick at fullback(it will be Edwards) and work with there throughout pre-season needs to play the whole season with our halves. We can't be forced to change shit we've been putting so much time working on in the pre-season and expect us to still be at 100% afterwards.

A Penrith side with no injury disruptions or head coaches going onto NRL360 saying they used their infinity gauntlet to create Penrith juniors will win the comp.

Injuries are our thing and they were probably worst under Ivan which is a worry

Ahh yes Dallin having the chest problem. Choosing no operation only to have it comeback the next season.

Though my favourite was having Soward get 2 ops in the off season yet trying to 'manage' him a whole season with a stuffed back.. Lasted 2 rounds then missed 3 months and the season was gone after that.

Yeah that one was pretty stupid. They wanted him to have surgery done during the origin period.

Can't blame Cleary for the injuries. Adam Docker missed games because he cut his hands doing the the dishes lmao.
Some injuries were freak accidents. Others were poorly handled.

Its harder to remember the specifics now. But we were constantly trying to manage injuries and bring guys back early which seemed to both reduce their effectiveness while also increasing their chance at injury.

Hook did the exact same thing though. Part the reason Dean Whare was limited to one game in 2016. We rushed him back early rather then doing to obvious thing and giving him an extra week which due to our draw was actually a 10 day extra turnaround

Do people think wingers are less important then centres or your working type middle forward who are a dime a dozen?
Wingers start off the momentum of a set of six. They can turn half chances into tries. They can save tries off bombs and score them. Unsure why people still have this 90s mentality thst a winger isnt important.
Look at the grand finalists.
Fergo, Toupo,Vunavalu,Carr......

Who here has ever said a winger isn't important? Every position is important. But some positions are more important. Specifically the spine positions... and that's why they're the bigger earners.

We know wing is important and that Dallin is a good winger. But fullback is more important, is a more glamorous position to players and pays alot better. He's proven he can do that job and be more effective for the team then he was on the wing.

If he gets offered a promotion and payrise at another club.. or rather when he gets offered it. Going to be hard to say no. Fullback has been his goal since for years and he has made no secret of it.

Where has he said he said that he wants to play Fullback??

I’ve only ever say that he’ll play where ever the Panthers need him? So much so that he decided to forgo his Mormon mission to play footy for us.

I’d like to see where he has been saying that playing FB is his goal, I find it hard to believe, considering he’s filling in for an injured team mate.

I really cant see anything other than Edwards starting the year at fullback.

However, he has the current NZ fullback and test captain breathing down his neck.

Let's just say Edwards needs to hit the ground at full pace.

Are you serious? He has mentioned it in the media plenty of times. Most recently:

https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/07/05...eyes-off-long-term-fullback-spot-at-panthers/

He has told people at the club he's hoping to prove himself in the international games for New Zealand. Basically force them to pick him.

He hasnt threatened to leave. And has so far been happy to play where picked. But his intentions are well known. He wants to earn our fullback spot. Edwards certainly won't want to lose it. A friend of mine that works at the club thinks we will have to choose between them. Other clubs will force us to.

Edot
This situation is very similar to the one we had with Flash. Loved the club. Didnt want to leave. But eventually an offer too good to refuse comes along. Fullback and more money.

I hope DWZ at fullback fans were watching closely with England's match-winning try yesterday. He still has some major weaknesses back there

That he does such as positional play....... stands way too deep indefence . Could be Slater like down the track already has the sliding in with the knees down pat .Think Ivan can help him out .

As opposed to Edwards or every other fullback in the game?

Because no fullback ever misses a tackle.

Edit
That game confirms he should be an option as our next captain. Speaks so well. Takes responsibility for what happens and doesnt blame anyone else:

Never said they did. But you are one of the ones arguing that his one game against Australia meant something. Well, if so, this one does as well.
No. You're arguing one moment of a game should cancel out everything else. In a situation that every fullback has been unable to stop before.

He also scored a nice try running a fullback line too.for the most part he's a good defensive fullback. But no player ever has been perfect.
