But no player ever has been perfect.

Indeed. Just have to keep reminding you about certain weaknesses in DWZs game when they arise, seeing as you seem to have forgotten his poor covering against the Sharks in the finals already.

Hey lets just sign Jarryd Hayne to play fullback seeing we are going on past form not present. I've heard he was a gun in 2009.

The more I see of DWZ at FB, the more I'm convinced he's a centre.
Is that based on his try or try assist? Both looked like standard fullback plays.

I only watched highlights though. Time of the games is shit.

Edit
Centres rarely ever get to do kick returns which is one of his best strengths. He finished 5th for kick return metres in 2018 having missed a chunk of the season and making small metres in most of his games on the wing.

Defensive positioning. Call me if he ever gets in the same postcode as the tryscorer. Apart from his turnstile effort for England's last try.

You mean like when he smashed Tedesco against Australia?

I suggest you watch highlights of us and tell me how often Edwards was in the same postcode as try scorer. I watched dome recently and he was miles away when wingers were scoring on a regular basis.

Thats a flaw all our fullbacks had under Hook. Hopefully Ivan can fix that. If you want an example just start with Round 1.

Defense is shit across the board for us.

1st test v England. A penalty try he let in and their last try he was a mile too deep and got stood up when did get to the defender

Those are both examples of him being in the same post code though. Although the penalty try decision was ajoke. It should have been a penalty. Not a penalty try.

There are examples of every fullback in the game being out of position or beaten when making the tackle. If you want to blame a fullback for not stopping tries on the wing (as Abacus seemed to be doing by saying Dallin was not in the same post code) then literally every try scored is an example of one or the other.

Weve had our blokes make other fullbacks look foolish too. Quality players like Holmes, RTS, Tedesco etc.

When youre looking for flaws in players they're easy to find. Doesnt mean that player is the only one with them.

He seems to have all the attributes of a good centre.
He does. He could be very good. But then you're sacrificing his kick returns which are about his best contribution to the team. A great powerful kick return with a fast play the ball can make every run in that set better. And improve the overall metres for the set.

Which is the reason I want him on the wing. Though he should be centre if one goes down but he should train at centre and see how it goes.

DWZ just shortlisted for the golden boot award.

Making Cleary’s decision very hard.

Could interchangeable fullbacks work? DWZ at fullback for the kick returns, Edwards at fullback closer to the defensive try line? Edwards is very good defending the short kicks in behind the line.

It could and has before. RTS and Mini did it. Would be foolish not to try getting the best out of both.

Dallin has never had a pre-season at fullback either. If Ivan is smart he would have both preparing to play both positions and then figure out how to make it happen.

Odds on one or both will miss a chubk of ghe season anyway. Lets hope inhury doesn't make our decisions for us.

Finishing would be a concern for Edwards given how amazing wingers are. So inside the 20 DWZ on the wing. It could work

Just watch DWZ in the wide angle for each of England's tries. He's half-assing it. Ah, but its Hook's fault.

Edwards does the exact same thing. Round 1 2018. Eels scored 3 tries and butchered 1. The only time he is near any of them is after it has been grounded by Norman when he sliced through.

Edwards is not even in a jog following the ball. Dallin is copping shit for stuff everyone of our fullbacks did. Luai. Peachey and ofcourse Edwards.

2 tries scored in that corner and he's closer to the goal posts then the ball. A kick which Hoffman fumbled and it's Peachey contesting it and stopping the try.

Edwards isnt some freak with perfect positioning. The same flaw exists in both players. The coach should be identifying these flaws and working with the players to fix them.

One criticism of Dallin has been his try assist stats. Yet he has racked up a coupleof tries and try assists for NZ in his 3 rep games. He has his flaws ofcourse. But he's still thriving at fullback. He's so much more dangerous when not stuck on a sideline.

Would be mildly surprised if he wins it. I think it'll be one of the poms. Shouldn't make much difference to our plans. You'd think DWZ would be on the wing for NZ if RTS was available.
If he was playing wing for us and NZ he would be near that award either.

I doubt he wins it. Dunno shit about the Poms form. But Teddy has a grand final victory and Origin series win to his name. DWZ has been great but in less successful teams ( you wouldnt know it when his own fans are bagging him out) and its a great achievement even being on that shortlist.

We get bagged for overrating players. Now we have a guy captaining his country, on a shortlist for the golden boot and no one rates him apparently.
