Eels' inquiry into alleged attempt to fix election

And the way we achieve that is by introducing the necessary changes to the constitution of both clubs (PLC and PDRL) to bring them back together where we then have a single board and not this current crap of split boards, special conditions, alternate election years and fudged memberships.

Unfortunately, there were too many deriders and distractors at the last PLC AGM to allow the start of the these types of changes to get passed.
Which is what 3P promised way back when it all started off, but once in power on both boards the merkins never followed through in 4 years.

Rather than pay over $1mil per season? Yes.
We need a balanced squad, not a squad based almost entirely around one (albeit great) player. The fact that we went into a slump around Origin time when he wasn't here (or was "resting") stands as proof that we don't have enough quality in the squad beyond the star player.
By comparison look at our successful 80s team... Cronin, Ella, Kenny, Sterling, Grothe, Price... all consistent rep players throughout the period.

Anyway, back on topic... Spags v Fitz etc. Glad we've left that era behind - once Spags finally moves on that is.

I sort of agreed with you until I looked across the rest of the teams in the comp. By my reckoning there could be 5 teams with players earning as much as Hayne in the comp, and all made the 8 this year.

Souths - GI
Storm -Smith
Broncs - Milf (if they paid the market rate, being what the Faiders supposedly offered, but probably only paid $100k).
Cows - JT
Manly - DCE (if he re-signs)

One player doesn't ruin your balance. I reckon it's more your bottom 7 players. If too many of those are above the minimum then you're f**ked.

3P promised plenty way back in 2008. It appears now that only some people benefited from those promises......

I don't think DF was wearing his ClubsNSW hat when he was at the 2008 PLC AGM, but I might just be insane.

;-)
I was probably even at that meeting, back when I cared... but for the life of me I can't remember what else DF said?

Good point. We've had years of cap strife through backended deals and having to pay low-level guys overs. And if the cap goes up each year, I guess $1mil for one player isn't as much as it used to seem?
I just dont think we should be held to ransom with protracted contract negotiations, because if a star truly wants their future to be with their one club, you get it started early, and wrap it up quickly.

True Bart, they did offer it and not surprisingly as soon as they were put under pressure by the members to do something about that promise, they threw up their hands and claimed "it was too hard".

The current board has at least had the temerity to try and take it to the electorate via the idea of introducing a range of constitutional reforms - too bad the 3p and DF supporters at the 2014 AGM voted them down.

Yep. And too bad a significant number of the 3P supporters were - allegedly - there on - allegedly - flsified memberships, with no entitlement to vote :?.

f**kers intent on runing our club for their own selfish ends.

I'm looking forward to the results of the police investigation as well as gaming and liquor investigations to finally wind up and give us a decision either way. It's gone on way too long and we need to get to the bottom of these allegations.

Lots has been said in the papers but in the end we need to see some concrete evidence. Otherwise the club maybe up for a lawsuit or two.... and that's Apart from the Bentley unfair dismissal case which we looks like we are going to pay out.

Emjaycee, are you not friends with Sid Kelly?

Is Sid Kelly a bad person cause he is mates with Roy? I'm sure if u ask Sid, he would say to you that Roy is blue and gold and has invested a lot of time and money in this club and deserves to be treated with more respect. After all these are just allegations at the moment. Nobody is guilty of anything yet!

Jake, I don't know Sid Kelly except that he used to have his picture up on the wall behind reception and sit at a table on the stage at the AGM's. He wouldn't know me from a bar of soap, except I am a little taller than a bar of soap and don't smell as nice.

I added "allegedly" after bolding Bart's post where he claimed they were ruining our club for their own self interests and you are right, they are not guilty of anything yet, which is why I added allegedly.

That's nice that you put allegedly but mud sticks. You think their will be an apology if these allegations aren't true.

Sorry, I thought two allegedly's in the post would be enough... thanks for picking up my typo on "ruining" though ;-)

From whom?

I dont think any of the alleged really care what I bunch of nuffies (apologies Bart) on an internet forum say when their alleged behaviour is plastered all over the newspapers for all and sundry to read and believe.
