Yes Jake, if we're talking about charges before a court of law... rather than just judgements on the performance of an elected official in the court of public opinion.

I think Jake's just having a go MJC... I'll happily apologise on here if Roy somehow gets to mainatin his club membership for not having acted against the interest of the club ;-).

Speaking of the club.I think the club has another problem to worry about.
If a certain story gets out and it's found to be true. Some high flying management will get the chop also those who did nothing about it.

Roy has had numerous allegations against him for many years.

I had a discussion with Suity in 2009 or so on the Gold Coast as we were leaving the Titanium Bar. The allegations at the time if proven true were worrisome. Those were deals with certain Labor power brokers that saw his name raised at ICAC and also the allegations of his involvement in many "Phoenix" cases, which defrauded the Tax office.

While everyone is given the right of being innocent until proven guilty. One would also think about the image of what you are involved in. If they cared enough about the clubs image, they would have worked in the background and not sought glory themselves. But then again that is what happened in 2008/2009 when not one of the candidates we attribute to 3P was on a ballot for the football club elections.

I guess Ovo's advise to me when I meet Roy in the early 2000's has never left me. So I guess I am an apologist for someone or another.

I thought Ovo and Spags were mates?

The part of my post MJC bolded and you took umbrage with included my judgement "f**kers ruining our club for their own selfish ends". It's pretty clear that's a comment about the continued destabilisation/ego aspect, not about what is in the papers and subject to inquiry - that's why that part of my post didn't contain "allegedly".

Got to be mistaken identity ! Surely Spagnolo is not mates with Tripodi & Obied. Oh wait ...

In 2006, The Sydney Morning Herald ran a series of articles on Tripodi’s involvement in public land transactions in western Sydney.
It emerged that a friend of Tripodi’s, Roy Spagnolo, had landed a nice deal by becoming the landlord of the Department of Housing’s office in Fairfield. Tripodi was both the Minister for Housing and the member for Fairfield.
On his appointment as minister, Carr declared that he wanted Tripodi to become, “a warrior for public housing tenants”.
Spagnolo and Tripodi were both shareholders of Westside Property Developments. Spagnolo has also been a donor to Tripodi’s election campaigns.

This went to the ICAC but could not get traction.

Never struck me as a good bloke...

Based on his forays on here (which always ended in him getting upset and snapping and at nothing), and on seeing him "in action" arrogantly smoking cigars post-election at the club.

What a shit bunch of merkins we've had around the club the past six years or so. As lethargic as the old previous "incumbent" board might have been, I don't recall any allegations of them stooping so low as allegations made regarding these 3P merkins.

What get's me down is how low these merkins will stoop to further their own power.
I had faith they were all in it for the betterment of the club.
Clearly, my faith was misguided. And I'm not just talking about the 3P merkins. I'm talking about ANYBODY who represents the club, at any time.

Yes Suity, unfortunately self-interest is sadly often a driver in representative roles. We see it often in Politics, Boards or companies and organisations, large and small sporting clubs, even school P&C associations.

My faith was not surrendered as easily, but even so I'm still disappointed in how low these guys allegedly stooped. Though I for one don't think it is comparable to anything displayed by the incumbent board that came before them (pre-2008), even if their inaction on certain matters could perhaps at a stretch also be perceived as self-interest?

It's all really sad actually. I hope the same think doesn't happen to your Wanderers... you've got one of the former participants in this recent Eels mess as one of the four Wanderers co-owners now, haven't you?
