Dean Young anyone? Show's how much the media know jack shit, and the eels aren't leaking stuff.

Exactly as I said the other day. Nobody had a clue what’s happening. No point in anyone getting worked up by what the media says.

The thing that gets me is that posters on this forum think it’s unreasonable that fans want their team to prioritise winning….and look for every sustainable excuse for the club at all times.

they manufacture lies like a lack of resources - and then refuse to accept it when multiple players, coaches and administrators refer to us as a well resourced club.

it seems that some fans don’t want to acknowlege poor performance by players, coaches and staff, but would rather blame a faceless and nameless lack of resources and just submit that we should accept our inherent inferiority.

of course, at least one of these fans enjoys the status quo, because mediocrity and failure provide endless hours of masturbatory arguments and trolling to distract them from what must be an incredible void of a real life.

I’d love to see us improve. It sucks supporting a shit team.

BA prioritised winning and look where it got him?

Stabbed in the back for winning more games than losing.. only to being replaced with serial losers.

With zero experience or the best you can get has a pitiful 34% success rate.

Other than Benji, one couldn’t coach that poorly if one tried.

And the poll remains shambolic!

Which coach doesn't "prioritise winning"? The point was BA no longer seemed to know how, with changes in the game leaving his unchanging tactics and squad behind the eight ball.

Win percentage for 2023-2024 was down to 44% - after making a grand final in 2022. I'd say that's why the Board called time on BA.

No argument there are about the potential Eels replacements, given that McDermott has opted to stay on at Newcastle and presumably not an option to get the Parramatta NRL role.

The simple fact is if we were as big a club as you merkins think we are, we would've achieved more since 1986. Three grand final appearances in 38 years is below average. If we're a big club we must be hideously unlucky.

I think we're average, at least over the long term. Since the new board structure, we have been above average (57% win rate). So we have either improved as a club since the constitution change, or we've finally had some luck. Five and a half years is a small sample for judging a club's inherent quality.

But I would also love to see us improve. I don't think the results of the past year and a half mean we're not improving. Even much 'luckier' clubs than ours have seasons like this. It's part of the ebb and flow of being an above average club.

The successful clubs have good officials.

You’d be better off herding the office talent into key areas.

Pay them properly. A high tide lifts all jockstraps.

They will know what coach to sign and how to bring quality depth.

I see an eels bench with young internationals begging for 5 minutes.

Right now we are below average. I enjoyed our period from 20-22 where we were much more competitive. Hopefully the last couple of years is an anomaly and our performances on the field improve.
