Actually our high performance guy Joey Grima coached the London Broncos. Not saying he is a candidate, but the rhetoric that our staff are fools and morons is a tad overblown.

I didn't say they are morons, or fools.

I said they're stale, out of ideas, and cannot lead us any higher than where they have gotten us before.

He is a good guy Joey spoken to him a couple of times at commbank before a game. Not sure if he would want to be a head coach though.

Live with it mate. It's called footy.

Oh the reaction by many of us so called over the top reactors is more then justified when we put in performances like that. I didn't even watch the second half and I fast forwarded about 15 minutes of the 1st half. I almost always watch Parra games on about an hour delay, just for anticipation of games like last night. I can't bare watch them bumble and stubble their way to a loss. I'm over our mediocrity. If we don't win I don't watch Life's to short. The Dogs v Roosters game prior was much more enjoyable though. I watched almost all of that and did very little fast forwarding for that one.

However the realisation that another season of being also rans is staring us in the face once again and is very hard to take after 36 years and counting.

So please cut people a little slack already.
It's just a f**ken observation you overly precious cake making mincer.

I don't think you could squeeze much more juice out of our current squad. Maybe a little bit more consistency.

Its not even close to Penrith and the Storm. We don't have a geniune superstar in any position.

For us to be successful with a new coach they will have to improve the roster to improve our performances.

I agree - we are nowhere near the Storm, or Panthers (despite the fact we have beaten Melbourne the last few times we've played them).

And I agree that our squad is missing a few ingredients.

But - with all due respect to those teams -, this side is not a team that should lose to the Cowboys, or Tigers.

And the worst part is that the only thing those teams did to beat us was to play with more energy than us - that's the secret formula to beat us; just play up tempo, with energy.

That's a little alarming, imo.

Brad has done a remarkable job in recruitment, but he (and his assistants) have run their race, imo.

And I do believe that a great coach can take an average squad far - Brian Smith coached some average sides for us to deep in the Finals, and also turned some big ordinary players into handy First Graders (Lee Hopkins, Jason Moodie, Matt Petersen, etc.).

I don't have any faith that Brad, and his assistants, can extract consistency from this squad.

Losses are part of sport; losses like last night's are not acceptable, imo.

I found it funny that Brad said in his post-match presser that (I paraphrase) "teams are gunning for us" - why would they be? We are not the Premiers. We haven't done anything in the Finals since 2009.

Yep. I agree - A squad of our calibre wont be as consistent as the best teams, but even allowing for injuries that game against the Cowboys was very poor.

Whilst I dont agree with the "teams are gunning for us" comment have a look at everyone we've played and then rank their performances against us compared to other teams they have played this season.

There's no doubt that lower teams lift against teams like Parra. We should be able to deal with that though and play with the same intensity that we do when we play Penrith or the Storm. I think thats the message he was trying to get across.

If we bring in a rookie, are we subconsciously accepting that bar a miracle, we are resigning ourselves to not challenging for 2-3 years while new guy puts his roster/style in place?

It's not a popular choice but I think we need a hard nosed merkin and the one available is Flanagan. He'd never agree to it because I reckon he still harbours aspirations of being a head coach for a long time to come, but the way I'd approach it would be similar to what Ram was talking about with Sheen's. Bring in Flanagan for 2 years, with someone like Ciraldo or Carr as assistant's and then taking over in year 3....
