TBH I would have thought the process would entail - collect doco, interview lots of merkins, have a think, come to some conclusions, have a chat to the merkins you are gonna nail to see if they have any explanation, have more of a think, write it up, tell the merkins you are gonna nail the findings, then make public the findings/penalties/etc

More like, collect docs, give a few to media hounds, let it play out for the few weeks, interview a few muppets for token reasons, write a report based on the best media articles you've read, hand down a verdict.

That would certainly be classified as procedural fairness.

So your point about the penalty being manifestly excessive is......?

That is something we can argue in the NRL appeals process.....but it will be an uphill fight to play that game in court.

you don't think the fact that the media has been spoonfed confidential information about an ongoing investigation since day 1 might help our case?

I think alot of whats been in the media is horseshit purely to stir up a public frenzy. We dont know if any of that is related to what the judgement is.

And the more games we win the points penalty keeps going up according to the mongs in the media. No doubt the frenzy will subside after the AGM.

Couldn't a large majority of members who go to the movie night not even be LC members? The movies was for members of the footy team not LC. Sure some may overlap but I guarantee a lot wouldn't as you are not necessarily a member of both the LC and the footy team.
So movie night with the players was just a big coincidence?? They just got their dates wrong and forgot all about the AGM??? :sarcasm:

It's not a wide release movie, I believe it is a one off screening. The film distributors could just have easily chosen a date and we were asked to attend.

What I'm saying is that the people who the movie night is aimed at probably aren't LC members anyway.

So the date is irrelevant!

Plus a cinema would only open their doors for freebie charity stuff on Mondays.

Having said that, coincidence or not, it's not a good look and only provides fodder for the haters.

They either deduct all or a set amount. How can our position on the ladder determine our penalty??? What if we had 1 or 2 wins to date???

Because if they want to rub us out of finals contention, but not have us play for 0 points at all this season, they might have only thought 4-6 points was enough. Now that the team is going better than otherwise might have been expected, 4-6 points wouldn't likely keep us out of the 8. So the points they will deduct might be more severe, like 10-16 or so.

The more successful the team is, the more likely the punishment will be severe.

where we are on the ladder should have absolutely nothing to do with the punishment it should be based on the evidence alone

pffft ... I see it as scare mongering tactic by a desperate chairman to divert attention away from the real issue, seemed to have worked for the sharpy fanboys...

it won't even get off the ground and nor should it.

Why? It seems fair enough to me. But then again, I'm emotionally invested in the club and not the individuals on either side of the fences. Its like de ja vu all over again.

If this is NRL's thinking, they are dumb. Would be about as consistent as their refs
