If this is NRL's thinking, they are dumb. Would be about as consistent as their refs

it opens up a can of worms what if you had a team that were 2 million over the cap but all their new superstars got injured and they were coming last would they only get a 2 point penalty?

Why? It seems fair enough to me. But then again, I'm emotionally invested in the club and not the individuals on either side of the fences. Its like de ja vu all over again.

I'm each way on privatisation. If this whole shemozzle was a sneak attack to try and force then that doesn't sit well with me having the type of people willing to destroy the club then owning it. Otherwise privatising could help get rid of those people making our club a shitfight every single season. Basically I want to know everything about who would be buying the club

It is more to do with the media speculating i feel. But also, the NRL are dumb. Too many inconsistencies with too many things. If they pinged us 4 points and the Eels manage to not only make the finals, but win the title, they will be red-faced about it, other teams and their supporters will be livid. Is this fair? No. The media beat-up has been exceedingly vindictive in trying to influence the thoughts of both the public and the NRL. It will probably force the NRL into a corner, so instead ofnatural justice, we have mob justice.

I was going to write a hypothetical about the current Roosters, but also let's say Broncos were like $100k (yeah right, just $100k) and lost all their points currently?

After they wipe us out for the season, I wonder if Greenberg and El Diablo's husband will be seen smoking cigars and laughing.

Which touches on my theory. Whether merkin A wants to buy it tomorrow or merkin B wants to buy it in 10 years time, I'd like a 75% majority of members deciding our fate rather than the theoretical ability to simply sell the team off and to do so without consulting members. It's a no brainer.

I'm unsure if and how you could prove it in court, but the courts do have an exceedingly dim view of the media, but that is jumping the gun. That said if the Munchwood mentions what the penalty will be tonight & it's the same as he said last week and tomorrow is proven correct, I'd really want to know where he & the rest of the Terrorgraph were getting their info from, because it smacks of pre-releasing info to get positive opinion.

I do have my own speculation over what has happened and how the NRL perceive it and want to deal with it. Whatever happens, be good to hear the full explanation

I'm now beginning to wonder if merkin A has been orchestrating this, after I realised where the first of the TPA dramas stemmed from. I'd be extremely disappointed if he was, but I suppose getting to where he is probably indicates he isn't the most merciful merkin

Who would know? That's why I can't understand why a comment like "it won't get off the ground and nor should it".

So movie night with the players was just a big coincidence?? They just got their dates wrong and forgot all about the AGM??? :sarcasm:

How many members (Season ticket holders essentially) would be voting members of the Leagues Club who could be arsed to turn up to an AGM and vote?

At 6pm on a Monday? um......
Was always 7pm now this year with all this crap happening it's 6pm.
Plus the Movie/Meet the Players, it all smells a little bit if you ask me.
But who knows the club only tell us they are giving the NRL the help with the investigation that they have requested, the NRL have said nothing anf the only info we get is in the media which is all tarnished due to agenda's from past rulers.
Let's just get through the AGM and then the Tomorrow wait for the NRL to punish us then re-access.

It actually sucks that Members of the NRL club (Eels members and season ticket holders) have no say in how the club is run. But then again the NRL team is "owned" by the PLC, so in that case, it's the same to us (non PLC members) as if it were privatised.

We have no say now, even though we do have financial input to the team, and if hypotheitcal billionaire Joe Bloggs decided to buy the club, it wouldn't be any different to the non-PLC Eels members.

Considering we were told that we would have a say (via a PDRLFC membership included with Eels membership), I'm sure many like myself never bothered / needed to get a PLC membership. Then the PDRLFC folds and we get squat.

Sucks. Really sucks, some of the most important decisions facing the team are coming up soon as pokie jockies from the PLC that don't care about the team could decide the teams fate.

I just hope that there are enough people there that have the best interests of the team to help protect it, whatever that means. I fear that if the majority of the voters are less interested in the NRL franchise, they are likely to be swayed by someone campaigning to them, cause it doesn't matter to them, as long as the PLC is fine, the rest won't matter...
