I think that if they declare that TPAs are not satisfactorily at arms length, then they deem them as part of the cap. That puts us over ?

I don't think the problem is with this year's cap (not sure). It is largely with undisclosed agreements that possibly put us further over the cap in previous years than we had acknowledged. But either way, if there is a problem with this year's cap due to undisclosed agreements, Watters retiring doesn't change the substance of the matter.....if it turns out that our TPAs were not properly disclosed and would have have led us to be over the cap, then we are in the wrong.....regardless of whether we then lose a player after 'getting caught'.

We also added jennings (we'd be paying some of it this year) ... and we are not sure what happens with watmoughs money this year
True but we did have 500k for Hoppa and then were chasing Hiku so i'm sure most of that was put into securing Jennings for this season.

I don't think our cap moving forward is an issue unless the NRL penalizes us with cap space which wouldn't surprise me

That's a new angle... can't wait or the "journos" to read this and put it in their articles tomorrow ;-).

Penalising any club cap space would go against the NRL's whole reason for having an "equitable" cap across all clubs in the first place.

IIRC other codes do similar by docking draft picks ?

Especially when the Storm only had to get cap compliant, considering by how much they were over the cap and for how long.

Yep the Dogs even snared Andrew Ryan after being found out for rorting the cap, after their wet lettuce punishment they won a cap 18 months later. Same with the Storm in 2012.

Great work Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaave.

IIRC Paul Kent has used the angle already..

Morning, we have a suspended 4 point loss if found to have further breaches so how can we lose more than the 4 points?
Apologies, but has anything changed regarding this since NRL claimed this?

Cheers twizz.
"Take our 8, we'll still make the 8"
Would that not be the most satisfying result ever? This team is probably good enough to win the comp, as long as it can actually make the finals.
BA has managed incredibly well to insulate the players from the media circus so it seems the players have the ability to remain focused ( although the last five minutes against Penrith would be evidence to the contrary).
18 games left 36 available points. Assume we're now zero.
Do we have the ability to win 14 of those games? It is entirely realistic. Indeed two byes thrown in, probably could get away with 12 wins
Glass half full , peeps

That's the wrong way round. The bookies won't mind putting up short prices for us to win the comp. Win win for them.

Tab are alot smarter these days, they dont have a wooden spoon market, they have a "most losses for the season" market.

Meaning if a team was to get stripped of premiership points and finish last, they would still have less losses than teams like saints, Newcastle or roosters.

They should do this, and not points.

It is the appripriate penalty - make the team instantly comply with the cap (and release players to do so, while still being on the hook to pay them), and then a following year penalty to the amount of the breach - if this results in further releases, see prior point.

The reason they won't do this is that our latest breach is merely 100k-ish for FG, and will be seen as soft...

if we get stripped of a lot of points then just rest all our best players for the rest of the year if needed
