Oh my god, where do I even begin?!! Have only just had a chance to really settle down and calm down enough to gather my thoughts and post. Even now, I am still absolutely buzzing!! Knocking the arch-rivals out in the way we did in front of one of the most incredible crowds of all time? It doesn't get much sweeter than that! Seriously, knocking those wankers out is just a deep, deep satisfaction. Can't even find the words to describe how great it feels. We have ended their Season and I couldn't be happier!
That wasn't just a great game. It was much more than that. It was a great moment in history. Probably one of the best, most crazy games I've ever watched, and this is one that I will honestly remember for the rest of my life. Priceless memories. The sort of game I will one day tell my kids and Grandkids about. The sort of game where I will always remember where I was and where I watched it on that day. Honestly, for me, this game goes straight into my top five of all time.
It was just one hell of a performance from our boys. It opitimised everything this club is and everything this club stands for. Pride, passion, determination, heart, toughness, grit, resilience, desire; it was all there, I could go on and on. It is what this club is built on and that was all on show this afternoon. Just the determination and desire the lads played with, they were never going to be beaten!! The Roosters threw so much at us, so much tough and grubby stuff but not only did we absorb that, but we gave it back to them tenfold!! I haven't seen a Souths side get down and dirty like that since 2014! Absolutely loved it!
Not only that but look at the adversity we faced. So many God damn sin bins yet we didn't let it affect us too much. In fact, there was 20 minutes of that game where we had 11 men. And yet, we held the Roosters scoreless throughout that period! That is simply incredible, words cannot describe it.
For the most part, we were dominant in attack and defence and the Roosters didn't have many answers.
I'm proud to be a Souths member every day, but today, my heart swells with pride to the point where I had tears in my eyes at full time. I'm sure I wasn't the only one, that's how much this means.
We march on to Week 2!! Bye, bye Roosters!
