cronulla avg crowd 2013 - 13,774

less than world cup...

cronulla - never won a premiership

Fiji - Vodaphone shirt sponsor and muti-million dollar sponsorhip

Cronulaa - not so much

let rothfield know his team is booted from next years comp.

clown.

please note - this is an anti-rothfield statement, not an anti-cronulla statement :)

GREAT WORLD CUP!

Yes I mean the MCG. Rugby league if its supported by the government is capable of selling out the entire MCG for a World Cup final or semi final in advance.

Melbourne should have 1 pool game at AAMI & 1 final at MCG.

Now's the time to take our next World Cup not only national (including WA,NT,SA,VIC,TAS) but also international not just NZ but also PNG & Fiji.

PNG sure, 2 games maybe. Fiji - maybe not. NT - in November? Don't think so. TAS - lol.

Final should be in Brisbane, Sydney or Auckland. Nowhere else deserves it. The MCG is a cricket/AFL ground and terrible for watching RL.

I don't doubt RL could get a big crowd to the MCG, but I'm not sure if it would be a great place to watch the game.

Fiji - go look at the Battle of the Bati crowd. They're ready.

NT - a pool game in early to mid October is fine, they'll sell it out. No worse heat than what PNG would have.

TAS - look at the Storm trial. They are capable of selling out a well promoted World Cup match and draw 15k+.

Final should be in Brisbane, Sydney or Auckland. Nowhere else deserves it.

Whoever wants it the most, pays the most and promotes it the most, they're the ones who deserve it. If that's Brisbane, Sydney or Auckland than so be it but don't be surprised if the Melbourne government tries to outbid them all.

Why discount NT or Tasmania? If they put together decent bids for games they should both get one IMO. Same as Fiji, even if it costs more than hosting it in Australia the benifits would far outweigh the loss.

Seriously? Sydney had 6 games last world cup. Do you really think Perth would 'blow them out of the water' if they had 6 games including the likes of France v Samoa?

I would give Perth an Australian group game, I don't see why we should be taking many more games to non-heartland areas. Have maybe a quarter final in Melbourne, no more. NSW/QLD/NZ for the rest of the finals games.

Given population difference and the fact some of them games drew sub 8k the argument that Sydney should host majority of games doesn't hold water. Sydney seems to require a less is more approach.

Ideally the pol games will be spread around oz&a NZ target avg 12k
Qtr finals
Perth, Wellington, Auckland, Allianz target avg 20k
Dbl semi header - anz or mcg, whoever puts the best deal on the table target 70k
Final suncorp sold out

Think you've underestimated the NZ crowds by a fair margin!

If Melbourne was to host a semi, i would prefer to see it at Etihad than at the MCG. The view there, especially for rectangular field sports is atrocious.

I personally wouldnt mind if they gave the final to Auckland, as long as its at Eden Park.

Last time I was there the atmosphere was great.

If the final is in Auckland, it means it's NZ the main host with Australia a minor partner.

I'm all for NZ hosting it, especially for NZ to re-use its stadia it built for 2011, but if it wants to be the major partner, it has to pay up big.

The pacific peso is already 20% less valuable than the AUD, and Brisbane would sell out automatically. That means Eden park would have to sell out at ticket prices 10-15% higher in nominal terms.

If USA vs Cook Island can play at Bristol and be a success then I am sure Tas or NT can work. It is just about promoting the game.

What else are people in Tas going to do? A good Tonga vs Scotland game for example should shift tickets.

Why Brisbane? Never been to Suncorp but surely it can't be such a life changing experience that every RLWC final must be hosted there.

Sydney sells out State of Origins and Grand Finals, even if ANZ got 75K not full capacity it's > than the capacity of Suncorp.

Selling out Etihad would be just as easy as selling out Suncorp.

The best thing the rfl have done is price tickets to draw in the crowds. Better full stadiums at half price than half full stadiums at full price. I hope the NRL have taken note and don't charge $50 for tickets.

f**king stupid. First off we don't need a semi double header when we could get big crowds in both countries (presuming Australia and New Zealand will be playing in both) and MCG? Why the f**k do people keep saying that shit? Awful for watching RL.

doc - the pool stages aren't going to be in early October. We aren't going to start a week after the GF. I'm all for taking NRL games there during winter but in summer the humidity there is atrocious.
I love Tasmania but I don't think it should get a game before a rugby league heartland. We can't compare RWC crowds. I would rather take games to NSW/QLD country towns first and engage their communities. This is Australia not England, and although Bristol got 7,000 to a game, to go to Bristol from where I was at the time would have taken about 2 hours, while for anyone anywhere in Australia it would be a flight or a 9 hour ferry ride. If Tasmania can prove they can really go all out, sure, but they haven't shown much enthusiasm for RL before.

The final should be at Eden Park. Give NZ a turn at hosting it. The obvious option is Suncorp again but it doesn't really need another final.

Unfortunately this is something that will never happen in Australia.

I love Australia more than anyone, but it's ridiculous how much we get financially raped at every possible point in our day-to-day lives. It's not until you travel a lot and live abroad that you realise just how exorbitant and out of touch with the world the cost of living is in Australia.

I live in Hull and have just been to London for the weekend. You don't realise just how much the prices jump once we pass Watford Gap.

Eh, from my experience some things are cheaper and some things aren't. I know I've never had to pay to use a public restroom in Australia.
