i know what a trail means but against a country hick team mudgee of all places, i mean why cant we play a game against a team from adelaide or perth or melbourne in the same vein. at least it would introduce an interstate flavour.

I'd guess that with the Auckland 9s on most clubs have scaled back the intensity of their trials because the 9s squad has to be mostly NRL squad players.

FTR, it is a combined Illawarra/Mudgee side, one is our NSW feeder and the other has a generous connection the Dragons.

As far as I know, no NRL club is playing a trial against an interstate team in Sydney.

grant you the interstate teams will not highlight anything as well, but at least it would create interest and it would be a first

Well I disagree. For the first graders it will be a good hitout - first one of the year. Plus (to repeat) the opposition is our NSW feeder club. Should be some good players on display and going up against the first graders.
